    Step forward?

Last night was a hard won victory and lots to like.

    1. KP had his best game
    2. I saw from Austin what I saw in college and predicted what he could do in the Pros
    3. Pass rush continues to be dominant
    4. Run defense was better but still need to improve
    5. Harvin is punting at a Pro Bowl level the past two weeks

    Still some concerns.

    1. Pat P is looking his age in man to man coverage
    2. The OL is still struggling, but to be fair they are outnumbered every play facing 7-8 men in the box
    3. This team really misses Cam Heyward...his replacement needs to be a high priority in the next draft
    4. Running game struggling...but see #2 above. I said last week, KP needs to show he can beat the stacked boxes with quick passes versus running into the mass of humanity (this is a Canada issue)
    5. Need to get 'muth much more involved

    Plus: Much better offensive scheming

Minus: KP still no freedom to change play, Peters was in the box all night and they ran right at him.

Certainly something to build on for the offense.

Run D looked good too. Couldn't stop Adams through the air though.

Would be nice if we can win next week. Rats play the Browns...hope for a tie?

        Need to target Pickens more.
        Benton should get more snaps.
Time to see what Broderick Jones can do.

Adams had like 20 targets. Now, one can also say that many targets is why they aren’t winning. However, I would like to see Pickens get at least 10 targets per game.

Time to see what Daniels or Herbig can do at center, Cole ain't it.

The run defense looked a lot better. But Jacobs did start to get it going late in the game. But still, the run defense as a whole performed better. The Browns/Rats game is going to be a slugfest. Since we beat the Browns already, I'm pulling for the Browns to stick it to the Ravens.

Definitely struggled again last night and pressure directly in the face of a QB sucks, plus they want to run Najee between the tackles and Najee is getting very little creases to run through.

I mean production wise for sure on the offensive side with the caveat being Raiders likely have one of the worst defenses in the league but regardless plays were made which is good. The offense though is still a grab bag of play calls, doesn't feel like there is any strategy going on, Pickens is still being misused, underused, etc.

Also is Watt the MVP of this team? I think so, last night the Steelers couldn't stop Adams but it felt like every pass play Watt was like a half second away from killing Jimmy G and you could see it with how Jimmy G reacted. That might've been the difference maker in the outcome ultimately. That and the fact Raiders hired McDaniels as HC lol.

Jimmy G was intimidated clearly by our pass rush. And after Watt and company bent him up like a pretzel, he had the gitters for a while and then got his never back in the end. But we sure helped by going so much zone once we got a big lead. What we allowed ONE WR to do to us last night was embarrassing thou. At some point, just double team Adams and make someone else make plays. Because if you take away Jimmy G's first read (Adams) then he has to hold the ball just that much longer to go to his second and third reads.

At this point I’m not convinced that Cole was much of an upgrade over Kendrick Green.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

We won, but we played the Raiders and they are a bad defense.

Kenny played well but we dodged a bullet on him throwing a pick six when the Raiders DB dropped an easy one. Whew! A win is a win and that play not made saved us 7 points. Pickett is a different QB without the lead.

Austin is still serving toast! He is a weapon.

The Run D was okay. The coaches are figuring out who at ILB is best vs the run, and who is best vs the pass. All 4 men have different skill sets. Good to see the Steelers finally catching up to situational football and playing the right guys. DT/ NT Benton is going to be very good. Losing Heyward sucks, and you can't replace his leadership and or his all pro play, but Leal isn't your typical next man up.

Play Warren more and I say defenses won't be able to load up in the box as much! Try it.

Our tackle play is hurting. Time to play Jones.

It was nice to see 'Muth playing well!

Bowell is the unsung hero of this team.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Absolutely he needs to play. If he's watching this group and he's not playing, he's got to be having self confidence problems. "I'm not good enough to play with this bunch". Put him in RT or LT, if he can't hack it he's not worth the 14th pick

KP played better but he is still developing. He still had a bunch of play calls that smh is all I'm going to say. He needs the ability to check out of the initial play and the ability to make that read n trust him to do that. We also have moved away from the jet motion we saw a bunch of in the pre-season. That needs to be added back in to allow KP to read the coverage off the motion and make better decisions.
On the defense side of the ball we need to be in press more. We have the pass rush to stay in man under cover 2. The rush will get there. We got picked apart in that off coverage. Porter should be able to begin getting more playing time now with 3 pre season n 3 regular season games under his belt. He'll learn more being out there then he will from the bench. We need him so I would start getting him more n more reps.
