I only saw the last series for the Steelers, and the game kill series for the 49er - I was out hunting. But on that sack of KP8, he had the TE and Warren open. It's like he could only see the rushers.

By then the defense was playing soft allowing the underneath stuff. But when you're that far behind you have to force some throws which Kenny did.

        Including Rooney.
I don’t think we know that yet. I do think KP looked really bad today. But I’ll say this much if KP isnt what the Steelers thought when they drafted him we need to move on quickly. I mean like next years draft.

I agree. My fear is that they'd be OK with a 180-yard/game QB if he just didn't commit turnovers.

I'm guessing or hoping that KP's jittery play today was a result of it being the first real contact since last season. And against the best D from last year that added Hargrave in the off-season.

Well Mitch last year had an almost perfect games vs Bengals last year with nearly every pass being dead on target. Unfortunatel 2 passes that were on target to recievers got picked with linebackers undercutting the routes. Mitch was crucified as horrible after that game. We;ll that performancs vs a good D was 10x better than what Pickett did today yet Pickett will be given much more slack by the fans & the coaches.

                  Big Ken??

                  KP Average completed air yards = 3.8;
Purdy average completed air yards = 9.1

KP avg time to throw = 2.89 sec
Purdy avg time to throw 2.88 sec

KP should not be attempting 40+ passes/gm

In that game Claypool and DJ made amazing 1-handed catches on badly thrown balls. Not defending Pickett, but Trubisky isn't the answer, either.

                      Oh, and then Canada.
I have to believe that every team that is on our schedule had that in mind before the season started. Today only reinforces that theory.

KP's post game comment was strange to hear; "I felt comfortable with what I was seeing, what they were doing. We just didn't execute like we needed to".

If he felt comfortable I really hate to see him when he is uncomfortable.

To be fair Mitch with all of his inconsistencies was and still is considered a finished product in what, his 7th season now? Where as Kenny is still just starting his 2nd season.

Aint that the truth, happy feet, short throws, bad decisions, ugh...ugly game front to back. On a positive note, we have seen Pickett play well so I'm resting my hope on that.

That is strange. That's not his usual demeanor even last year as a rookie, so hopefully it was just season opener jitters...

Every team that ever plays against a green QB is going to have that formula in mind. You focus on stopping the run until a team proves it can throw.
