I got to give Yinzers a new, more descriptive name: status quo Yinzers (SQY).
Who are these? These are the Yinzers who defend whatever they think the team's preferences are, regardless of reality or evidence. Example?
The Najee-Warren topic. Since the SQY perceive the team as wanting to stick to Najee as the starting RB, they endlessly defend that position. And I just witnessed a new degree of it today.
A FB poster not only defended Najee as not being slow, but he took it to a new level, claiming Najee was faster than Warren. He claimed Warren ran a 4.5 40, and that Najee ran a 4.45 40....back in Alabama.
That's his evidence. Not any 40 time taken pre-draft or anything of the sort. Najee avoided being timed in the 40 like the plague prior to the draft and ever since. And it's no wonder why. Najee is slow.
Look, SQYs, I'm not saying Najee is worthless. He has a purpose, especially in short yardage and goal line downs. But do you really wants a 3.8 YPC RB getting the ball over a guy like Warren who can take it to the house, as we saw on his 62-yard TD? Only if your goal is to score less.
The status quo Yinzers need to grasp that blindly sticking to and defending the team's leanings is not always the wise position. But hey, the team can do no wrong according to the SQYs.
On this date, the term Status Quo Yinzer (SQY) has been created.
