      Glad to see a bit of production from him. Robinson, Boykin and Butler along with Austin behind our starters could push Gunner down Route 30 n that's okay. Believe we'll be a better team without GO.
      All camp reports have to be taken with a lot of caution more so with wr's as they know early they are not getting lit up and there are some corners their going against who will not be playing on Sundays.

        I'm just grateful the ONE cutsie bro connection - Watt - is toast. I don't believe any other team picked Derek up; what's that tell you? That Cool Shades was overpaying for him all along. What, since when isn't 21 yards rushing and 11 yards receiving worth $3.5 million? And Tomlin's speech about brothers was so eloquent (given just before he booted Derek off the team). Quite a speech there, Cool Shades.

          In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

          The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

            Steelers inside the ropes: On soggy day, Hakeem Butler holds onto ball, makes plays

            JOE RUTTER | Saturday, July 29, 2023

            Despite being a highly regarded prospect and fourth-round draft pick, Hakeem Butler never has caught a pass in an NFL game. If the 27-year-old wide receiver continues to play like he did Saturday in his third practice of training camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he might get a chance to

              And another Mr. Maryland is up to make the team, 7th round pick, OLman Anderson. After a plethora of failed MD draft picks, that would make TWO who made the team.

                I'm starting to wonder if McFarland is one of those players that looks great in shorts but average in pads. Because he never seems fast in a real game.

                  Everybody writes off McFarland and I continue to pull for the guy and I think he does look fast in games. He has just not had enough opportunities. He looked good last year in the preseason and when he got one chance during the season he looked good and fast. I also think he runs tougher than he gets credit for. So I hope he can make a few plays on ST and get on the team this year. If the Steelers don't want him, I think he can play somewhere.

                    He is a speed guy who can impress. Let see what happens when the pads come on the physicality of the game is increased.
                    Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

                    Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

                    *** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

                      Normal nicks and dings...'cept for my camp dark horse Graham;

                      Published 14 hours agoon July 29, 2023By Nick Farabaugh Steelers Damontae KazeeDamontae Kazee at Steelers Training Camp July 29th / Eddie Provident, Steelers Now
                      UNITY TWP., Pa — The Steelers were dealt three injuries on Saturday during a rainy practice, however, Mike Tomlin is not too concerned about most of the ailments that the players suffered. It is mostly just bumps and bruises that guys will fight through or sit out a few days with for now.

                      Tomlin revealed that Steelers safety Damontae Kazee suffered an ankle injury. That injury is not believed to be serious, and Tomlin expects Kazee to be out only a day or two with what he described as a minor injury. Still, the team is down Minakh Fitzpatrick as well, so it’s possible they could sign a safety.

                      Meanwhile, DeMarvin Leal was carted off the field shortly following seven shots. After that, he did not return to practice while being evaluated. He had trouble breathing after leaving yesterday with heat-related ailments. Tomlin does not believe that the breathing issues are serious but the team will remain cautious with the situation.

                      Lastly, rookie running back Alfonzo Graham was injured on the last play of the 7-on-7 period with a shoulder injury after falling directly on it. He did not return to practice and Darius Hagans picked up more work in his absence.

                        Maybe this was posted already.

                        The Steelers' Seven Shots drill returned with a tight battle between the offense and defense Friday. That breakdown, nine more observations.

                        Jones makes his first appearance with the first unit, as a pulling tackle;

                        Jones jumped in for Dan Moore Jr. for a couple of reps at left tackle during the team period Friday without much ballyhoo or fanfare attached to what should have been a red-letter day in the development of the 14th overall pick but barely was noticed.
                        Even Jones wasn?t sure how many snaps he got. Offensive line coach Pat Meyer told him before the start of the team period that he would get a handful of snaps with the top unit.
                        ?One, maybe two,? he said. ?You never know with coaches. They can just tell you to go in. You can be in the bed up there and they can tell you to go in.?

                        Steelers coach Mike Tomlin warned not to read into depth charts at this point of training camp because they mean nothing. There is truth to that but earlier in practice there was an ever-so-small look into how the Steelers could use Jones if he wins the starting job.
                        Jones was used as a backside tackle to pull through the formation and open a hole for Jaylen Warren, who was able to rip off 20 yards. Jones was a notorious edge puller at Georgia with his athleticism guiding the way.
                        ?At Georgia, I did a lot more outside pulls,? Jones said. ?I did some inside too, but it depended on the concept and the scheme that we were trying to run but it is pretty similar. Just trying to read the hole is the toughest part,? Jones said. ?I think I did pretty good on the play. I am just trying to get better every day.?

                          Gunner is having a good camp, too -- same question for him.

                            He lacks basic RB instincts. In what game was that play where he was in the open field 1 on 1 with a DB a few yards away and stuttered stepped, basically breaking himself down for the tackle? Cost us a first down, was a microcosm of his career.

                            Warren is vastly superior as a back.

                              I'll agree that last year Warren was a vastly superior back but don't agree that McFarland lacks instincts. McFarland did not show them early in his time with Steelers because he was not as proready as Warren. McFarland took him some years to mature but I actually think he does possess good instincts and he started to show them last year.
