The date that camp starts. It is an important date for Mike Tomlin as his contract expires is early 2024. Per the team he works for, they don't like doing contacts when camp starts for extensions. You know where I stand on this. No extensions for Tomlin until the season ends and he will need to WIN TWO playoff games for an extension. We shall see what the Steelers will or will not do.

I think if Art Rooney II is not doing an extension before this season he will be does do done camp starts to avoid any distractions. I get the sense Kahn and Weidl have taken a little power away from Tomlin. If he does extend him we will know soon.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Keep pumping out those conspiracy theories. I heard tin foil is on sale so stock up.

Where you, and all the other life long Tomlin haters, stand, simply doesn't matter. Rooney is on side with Tomlin because he knows he has a Top 5 Head Coach in the NFL
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

Tomlin will be here as long as he wants. Book it.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

I do think at this point Tomlin needs to understand he needs to win Playoff games. The goal every year is the Super Bowl not a winning season.

That being said, I fully expect him to get an extension.

if he needs to win 2 playoff games THIS season, they may as well fire him now.

As much as the goal every season should be a Super Bowl ring - the reality of it is that THIS team's mark for success is simply a playoff appearance.

That would show that they've bottomed out, have moved past the playoff drought and back on the upswing.

2024 is where playoff wins will begin to become a thing.

I think the hot seat officially begins for him AFTER this season IF he doesn't make the playoffs. And that's too far ahead for any of us to predict because there are too many variables still in play.

we need to fire Tomlin like how the Dolphins did Don Shula.

just look at how many Super Bowls Miami has won since.

                oh wait...

Don Shula didn't win a Super Bowl in his last 22 seasons with Miami. Is that the threshold for Tomlin? So he's untouchable until after the 2030 season?

I was being facetious and making fun of Steel Maniac's ridiculously stupid sig.

Do we know that's when his contract expires? I know posters are sometimes a bit fast and lose with specific details like this.

Last time this happened, there were several posters here that said his contract ended at least a year before it actually ended because the contract contained an option available to MT if a certain win% was reached (and it was). So some on here got all worked up about us not extending him when he had 2 or 3 years left on his contract or something.

I don't think the Steelers have hot seats for HCs. Look how long Chaz stuck around with the team being bad.

But I don't think that the reasonable expectation for this team at this point is making the playoffs. If they don't do that, I think it's a disappointment (although I think expectations can change if you get injuries to players...like when Ben went down the outlook for that entire season completely changed IMO).

I understand your point; Its uncommon around here. this season and after will answer a ton of question about a ton of things.

What if he makes the playoffs but gets embarrassingly crushed again like he has his last 3 postseason games, giving up 40+ points in all 3 contests? What then? I say that's as bad as missing them all together. For a "defensive guru/coach", giving up 40+ in all 3 of his last playoff games should be as embarrassing as hell. And it didn't just happen once but in 3 playoff games in a row.
