Mendenhall deserves a fair share of the blame. But so does Ben. Probably more people too, but those were the biggest negative plays IIRC.

I was in the minority but I always thought of Ben -- if there was blame to be assigned. (I don't make it a habit of blaming a single player in a team sport)

In fact, I had kinda forgotten the fumble until people here were talking about it. At that point, you're ALREADY trailing (because of 2 int) and trying to come back... just because your one mistake was last doesn't mean it's the reason...

Plus, after the 2 pics and I also never understood why Ben threw to Wallace in traffic on 4th down at the end of the game... if that ball goes anywhere other than Hines, you're doing it wrong.

I'm sitting at 'wait for this season' to decide Harris' fate with the Steelers. Sure, there are intangibles but performance trumps all else (at least at the RB position).

I'm with the Athletic on no (big) second contract.

And I think it's probably a toss up for the 5th year option to pay him ~$8.5M (which is what it was this season). I don't think he'll make the probowl naturally and so I think he'll be in the playing time tiers for options (like Edmunds and Bush). We haven't given a 5th year option for guys in this tier since they increased the cost of the options.

So, I think whether or not he gets the option this year comes down to whether or not he's a "real" probowler this season. I said that it's a toss up to get the 5th year option above, but I think his odds of being a probowler are < 50%.

But I won't be surprised if we make an emotional decision here because we like him.
