Can we stop with the "we are doomed because we scored 18.1 last season.

It?s not about being negative as much as it is about gaslighting you by playing the victim.
our team is the victim of Tomlin/Canada and that where it will always come back no matter the convo.
people have learned from media, politics, social interactions that in todays world, this is the best way to get attention in an online world where negativity gets 10x the response.
it?s the best way to get the dopamine response/reaction of others.
this has really become the story of this board. Only a SuperBowl can break this cycle.
But even that probably won?t. Because Tomlin can?t win back to back SuperBowls. And even if he does, he can?t win as many as Noll. Or as many as Billy B. Or he couldn?t make KMFP into Tom Brady. Etc. Etc. Etc.
There?s an infinite loop of victimhood in front of us no matter what happens. And it?s just cause we respond and let these narratives control us.Comment

While I agree every year is different it is hard to look past the past few years in scoring performance. If it was truly player dependent then yes, things should improve with the growth of key skill guys. If it is coaching/scheme dependent then something needs to change from past seasons.
It was easy to see that the team chose to bring Kenny along slowly last season - he went to camp as the number two with limited opportunities to play with the ones. He was only moved into the starting lineup due to failures by Mitch, and even that was at halftime of a game where he had no starter reps the week leading up. We constantly read about, and discussed here on this forum, how Kenny's offense was both low-risk and limited. I think it is easy to believe that the team will open up the playbook with a full training camp.Comment

I think that all of these can be factors, but while we may often look at one being dynamic (players), and one static (system), I think we will see the system change as well, as the staff feels more comfortable with the evolution of KP, the rebuilt and improved line, and other young players - Najee, Muth, Washington, Pickens, Austin, Warren etc.

Yea, right up until Kenny throws one pick to lose a game, and then it's back to "piss-your-pants" play calling for the rest of the year. It's what Tomlin loves: ultra conservative, low risk play calling and winning 13-10. (We only averaged 18 PPG all year.) Check the teams who made the playoff and compare that to their PPG.Comment

Then let's shut this board down since it's 90% predicting. Shut 'er down, boys. No more prognosticating allowed here. Shut 'er down. And all talk radio? That's right, shut that down as well. We can't have any prognosticating going on there as well. Shut 'er down.Comment

Yes we all know that.
You keep bringing this up.
You do know that the idea is score more than last season right?
Newsflash THAT IS TYPICAL in a QBs 2nd SEASON. Our offense will be MUCH BETTER based on that alone. But I'm just getting started.
Pickens was also a rookie. What was Brown looking like as a rookie? Brown and Manny COMBINED showed less as rookies. They did not scratch the surface of what they would become.
But there is more.
NONE OF THE KEY SKILL PLAYERS ON THIS TEAM SAVE FOR DJ HAS REACHED THEIR PRIME YEARS YET.
Kenny
Pickens
Najee
Friermuth
Warren
That is 5 of our Top 6 offensive weapons who are PUPS people.
If we did nothing at all we would take a huge step just on maturity.
Did not even mention wildcard Austin who Kenny is already raving about.
But I STILL am not done.
Part of their struggles were due to offensive line.
Do you realize we literally PUT MORE RESOURCES I TO OUR OFFENSIVE LINE THAN I CAN RECALL IN A SINGLE SEASON EVER!!!
Think about THAT!
I don't know what it will be, but I would suggest it will sufficiently better to render today's scepticism meaningless. I predict our growth as an offense WILL be so big it will be a storyline at some point in the season.

Yes, because that is exactly what I said. Shut down the board, or at the very least stop using it for discussion.Comment

And how do you know this is quite possibly the best off season? Is your guess equivalent to fact? I see, I see, so your just guessing then? You probably say this every year.Comment
