In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

This is the statement I made when we drafted KP. It got me a lot of hate. KPs mechanics led to dying duck throws at times. It led to some of his college picks. He didnt load with his lower body properly. He didnt drive balls with his legs often throwing off his back foot all arm and led to high throws and ducks. But no one believed what I was saying. Do you believe me now?.... don't shoot the messenger....
.
Not an expert at QB mechanics but I do agree with one statement; "Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky are pretty much the same player". By that I am specifically referring to their 'look' playing the QB position, not their decision-making. Both have shown some incredible, strong throws and some weak, bad throws. KP has been able to limit his mistakes as he gained experience. MT seems to still be stuck with a rookie like game as far as decisionmaking goes.
What I am watching for this season is whether work ethic, film study, and 'want to' can raise the ceiling for KP.
(and Orlovsky?... yea, he pretty much sucked as a pro QB)

"Mechanically flawed": ESPN analyst's blunt criticism of Steelers QB?s Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky

The Pittsburgh Steelers have high expectations that quarterback Kenny Pickett is going to be a successful leader in his second year in the league and will be able to lead the team to a memorable season.
However, despite the high expectations of Pickett himself and Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, not all the critics remain convinced. Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky, now an ESPN analyst, does not believe Pickett or Steelers backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky are much of a threat to join the top quarterbacks in the game.
?Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky are pretty much the same player,? Orlovsky said. ?They are guys that are good athletes that use their legs to help them become better players. They are average with their accuracy and mechanically flawed.?
Pickett started 12 games for the Steelers during his rookie season, and his team won 7 of those starts. The most encouraging aspect of that performance is that he was able to guide the Steelers to 4 consecutive wins to close the season.
Orlovsky?s criticism of Pickett seems quite harsh considering that closing stretch. Pickett completed 245 of 389 passes last season for 2,404 yards, but his 7-9 TD to interception ratio needs improvement.
Tomlin has said that he has seen quite a bit of growth from Kenny Pickett in the offseason and is expecting a more confident and competent signal caller in his second year.
On the other hand, Trubisky has struggled to throw the ball consistently since he was selected with the No. 2 pick in the draft by the Chicago Bears in 2017.Trolls are people too.Comment

One scout said Addison's talent made up for the bad KP throws. It was the emergence of Addison that turned KPs college game around. This is the statement I made when we drafted KP. I think that was a wise insight. I think it’s a cautionary tale the Steeler wove. It started with placating BB. They were afraid to really make a play for a QB of the future in his final years. That led to desperation and that desperation clouded their scouting eyes. They convinced themselves he was the dude. The Steelers can not afford that again. Because I didnt think a first round QB was a real option before I havent done a ton of looking. But I think it’s time I do.Trolls are people too.Comment

I never saw Kenny's mechanics or arm strength as a problem, but he bailed too soon from clean pockets and couldn't throw with anticipation. This is the statement I made when we drafted KP. btw, the Steelers just signed another tiny handed QB..... Fields' hands measure 9 1/8 inches putting him at the 15th %tile for all QBs. For comparison, Wilson has 10 inch hands (90th%tile).Comment
