Draft day: love, meh and hate 1st round pick

At last the day has come.

Just for fun. What would be the selections or movements with our 17th pick that you would like, hate and leave you indifferent.

    a) LOVE:
    1) Trade up (giving only our 49th pick) to select Paris Johnson, Whiterspoon, C. Gonzalez or Jarlen Carter.
    2) Select: (obviously one of the previous 4 without giving our 49th pick) or Deonte Banks, Broderick Jones.

    b) Just ok:
    1) Select: Darnell Wright (wich I think is what they'll do), Brian Branch, Calijah Kancey, Joey Porter Jr.

    c) HATE :
    1) Trade up giving our 32th pick.
    2) Pic any RB, WR, TE, QB
    3) Nolan Smith, Van Ness, Emmanuel Forbes or Skoronski (he seems a G not a T).

In any case, at the end of the day we will have a new player who will have to be encouraged to death.

It's about the Steelers winning, not us being right.

I think the way to go is OT, CB, DL/ILB with the first 3 picks. I would hate to see them get cute and pick some tweener with 'position flexibility'. You've got to get immediate starters with those 3 picks. No dicking around

Agree Terrapin, maybe I would rule out ILB

I'm getting more into the Darnell Wright mood for pick #17. Someone on NFLN last night said Darnell was his #1 tackle. Said he might be more right tackle but also played left tackle & that last years #1 pick Travon Walker & this years probably top 5 pick Will Anderson both got stonewalled by Darnell, never beat him in college.

Darnell is Wright for the Steelers

I'm hoping for CB at 17, OT at 32 (D Jones or A Harrison), and John Michael Schmitz at 49.

Love: Paris Johnson, Broderick Jones, Christian Gonzalez, Devon Witherspoon - in that order

Indifferent: JPJ, Wright (prefer a LT but know that may not be possible without a trade), trading for one of my top 4 without giving up #32, Skoronski (somewhere between love and indifferent), Branch, Bresee

Hate: Banks or any other CB (nobody had Banks at 17 until he put up numbers in shorts), giving up #32 in any trade, Edge not named Anderson or Wilson (an edge at #17 is not insurance, it is a message that Highsmith is gone), QB, RB, OG

If JMS is gone by 49, which I suspect he will, I'd go DT for sure.

It's such a crap shoot, and I feel like more than any previous year, this draft could go so many different ways. I've seen DT Mazi Smith mocked in the first and late in the 2nd. If we go CB & OT at 17 & 32, and Smith is available at 49 - then we run to the podium! I just don't expect him to be there which is why I mentioned JMS who I think could be the next great Steelers Center.

                          I like this. Here's mine:

                          Love:
Gonzalez, Witherspoon, or B. Jones fall to 17 and we get one; or
Wright or JPJ are there; or none of the above are available, trade back somewhere 21-27 and get another pick or two.

                          Meh:
Skoronski or P. Johnson fall to 17; or we select N. Smith or D. Banks

                          Hate:

Trading up and losing picks; or
Branch, Harrison, D. Jones, Van Ness.
