I think the Rooney's are about making money. They make their living from the Steelers. Three Rivers and Heinz(Accrisure) have been sold out for what 50 years.
The Chief wanted to make $ as did his son and grandson. When you're making money it's easy to be benevolent and righteous in the community. I'm not saying the Rooney's aren't good people but let's not wear rose colored glasses and assume that St Art is just great.

It's easier now to get season tickets now I believe? I heard a story from someone who all of a sudden moved up to the top of the list. The whole Accrisure thing turned out to be a negative with the fans.

If this new smashmouth thing doesn't work then watch out the sh*t will hit the fan and we will see how the Rooney's handle it.

After the Accrisure thing I had a gut feeling that the Rooney's might consider selling the franchise. If this year goes bad I thing Art II might consider selling. This is just my intuition from following the Steelers for almost 60 years now.

Season ticket sales are down in a number of NFL cities. Fans have discovered that it is a better viewing experience at home or in a sports bar versus being surrounded by a bunch of drunk fools. If you have young children, most parents wouldn't put their kids in that environment

Plus every live game I have been to in the last decade, I find my self watching the gigantic scoreboard 50% of the time

huh? The Stadium was sold out for Ben’s last game. The fans were screaming for Kenny this season. Pretty sure the stadiums was packed for the last game that had playoff implications.

Selling the naming rights for more cash is a short term PR hit. Fans are over it already.

I don’t see them selling anytime soon because the demand is still strong and fans have a different definition for success.

at most a failed season leads to Canada fired snd Tomlin on the hot seat. NFL makes way too much money to walk away from unless you taint the shield.

most people probably don’t have an extra $200 for a nice game day experience and forget about it if its a family.

I think this is why the NFL can sell Thursday games for Amazon Prime for a Billion dollars. Most younger folks have Prime.

They went 21 years without a franchise QB, that's why. Tomlin had one for 15 years.

Noll was 2-2 in the playoffs without a franchise QB, Cowher was 7-8 in the playoffs without a franchise QB.

Tomlin is 8-9 WITH one. He hasn't made the playoffs without one.

                No doubt...WTF?

I guess we earned that reputation though, particularly as of late. However, please be aware it exists because we take the disconnected refugees that are fleeing Pennsylvania and other states. The ones on the run who have no roots, no family support structures, and who are low on money, hope, and common sense. I've watched my beautiful home state become an overcrowded cesspool of idiots in a matter of 30 years. It is now filling up with the worst political miscreants possible.

The reputation Florida has earned is unfortunately not wrong. They are my neighbors.

The women's NCAA final drew more viewers than any Thursday Night Football game last year. They have a problem.

                    No they don’t.

That women’s final four was fantastic. I think they also beat the men’s rating this year.

All this means is the women’s game got it right this year. Iowa had the Larry Bird of the Midwest that upset the defending champs. It made for some great storylines in the finals.

A finals game on a Sunday afternoon is supposed to outdraw most thursday night games.

wait a minute.. check your stats

Amazon's first year of "Thursday Night Football" brought some ratings wins and struggles. But they and the NFL are playing the long game.

Women drew 9.9 mill. This page shows 6 Thursday night games with higher Neilson ratings and a total of 10 games with higher streaming numbers.

if we use the peak number of 12.7 mill then its only 1 thursday night game. A good matchup will always help ratings. KC vs Rams.

                        Boom!!!!!!!!!

And 5 of those wins are from 2010 on back. So only 3 playoff wins since 2010. And none in six years.

The NFL is supposed to be king of the sports world, losing to women's college basketball is a huuuuuge problem.

Sounds like you should move if it's so awful. However ,where do you go, the way they are pouring across the southern border and infiltrating mostly everywhere ?

                              Really? That's pretty shocking.

Edited to add...read through the rest of the post and it's not true. Still an impressive showing for women's sports IMO.

Now take out Cowher's SB run and see what his playoff record is. And then take out his wins with "Noll's" players.

Turns out coaches only lose when you don't count their wins. Who knew?
