In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

If he's half as smart as they say he is, they'd be the best safety tandem in the league by the end of the 23-24 season.
For argument sake, let’s say you are right and that Branch is the guy.

Why take branch and have so much invested in him when that would force you to have to let Minka go in a two years because of the fact that there would be too much money tied up in that position?

a first round guy will want big doe waaaay before his contract is up ; at about the same time Minka’s will be up.

Rather use that #17 pick at a guy on the D-line that we could lock in for a decade ( if he pans out to be a stud)

We would not commit that much money to two stud safeties long term.

I'm going to have my IT guy check you two guys' IP addresses and see if you live within 20 miles of each other.

I agree the cap management can get tricky. Even though I can see that Branch would have to wait for 4 or 5yrs to get paid if picked at 1.17. So it can work I think.
But CB, OT, DL all need a stud and is more inline with managing or spreading the percentages of the cap position wise.
A stud RT is both a position needed soon and a cap management need. Pat Pete might retire at any point so need a stud CB. And Cam Heyward will need to be replaced soon. And not sure Tuitt has been replaced yet. We Will see if Larry can live up to his new deal.

I absolutely could see this happen...especially if the best OTs were all gone

Watching Branch play all over the field reminds me of a version of Troy P, although branch isn't as big. That worked out pretty good for us

We would have 4-5 years before we had a cap issue with Branch. By that time, Minkah's contract is running out and that becomes the money to sign Branch if he has proven to be a star.
