    Wtf

"Replacing" a young highly rated corner for a washed up 13 year vet and everyone is happy?? Eleven large is chump change in this market if you notice quality guards are getting almost twice as much! I was beginning to think we were on the right track with Kahn and Weidel building with youth from the inside out. Opposing QBs are going to be salivating waiting to play this group. I for one am getting fed up with the "Steeler Way"!!

Peterson played pretty well last season

but this is a switch with the Steelers

taking considerable risk that father time won't catch up with PP too much while he's on the Steelers' dime

I suspect the team didn't want to retain Sutton, otherwise, at the price he was signed, they likely would have.
If the figures for PP are actually cheaper than Sutton as rumored here, it's a solid signing. One that still doesn't necessarily mean they won't take a CB in the draft because at his age, they know he's only a stopgap

Think " Stop gap". That's the way I'm looking at this move. Now if he comes out there and is getting smoked like crazy and looking like a 45 year old cornerback then it is a bad signing. But as of now, it's a two year (at the most) stop gap move. We still are going to add a young guy somewhere along the way.

This organization could sign a turd in a paper bag and the ‘fans’ would find a way to say it was an incredible signing.
If the browns signed him, they would say he is over the hill and cost way too much.
If we would have signed Sutton, it would have been a great move to keep a young player.
          Just goes with the territory.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

            Washed up?
Peterson’s 82.5 PFF coverage grade in 2022 was the second-best grade of his career.

He was better last season than ANY CURRENT STEELER CORNER will ever be.

            Will he decline? Certainly.
Two seasons decline would make him only a “slightly” faster player than Cam.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The guy is going to be 33. History tells us CB play drops off a cliff at this age. This study was done a few years ago taken from hundreds of CBs over a span of 10 years. The 3 teams he publicly named he would sign with all passed.

I get that, but elite players tend to beat the curve. And Peterson is/was elite.

                  That list includes "elite"

It includes all CBs from 2008 to 2018

If he's getting smoked out there, you two will get your props from me.

At 5 million/year with a way to get out after 2023, then sure why not.

Have to wait for the details.

I agree. I see this a the mentor for our round 1 or 2 CB we are taking in the draft

Plus Peterson played well last year

Agreed, if those numbers are correct.
