Agreed NC. And one step further, position coaches. Coordinator tells position coaches what he wants and they teach technique, and team endorses - such as Meyer as the OL coach teaching a new technique.
So when a prospect fails to live up to expectations, it can be:
The GM misread his talent
The coach had the coordinator install a system that does not suit his skills
The coordinator installed a system and called plays that don't take advantage of a player's strengths
The position coach did not coach up his player
The player is either unable or unwilling to learn and grow
I'd say different answers for different players, and often a combination. I will say this when it comes to this coming draft. Any personnel moves and decisions I will credit/blame Weidl. I'm convinced he was brought in to do the job that Colbert had and Khan remains a bean counter, not a talent evaluator.

Weidl may be our biggest asset moving forward, especially his ability to asess talent in the trenches
