Man, that is kinda fun to say those things.

Unfortunately, the policies and procedures come from ownership, even though they like hiding from accountability so you don't know who is calling what shots. That's why, in one way, I admire Jerry Jones: He may take too many liberties for my liking as owner as he is the GM in name and reality, but at least you do know who is making the decisions. In Pgh, the Rooneys hide from being accountable. Look at the coordinator decisions, for example. Do you remember the fiasco of Bruce Arians? First we hear it's Tomlin's decision and he wants him back. Then we hear he has retired. Then Uncle Brucie says that's hog wash, and he never said he was retiring. All of that back and forth and charade because the Rooneys fired him but didn't want to take the heat for it.

The new GM will probably face the same thing: Rooneys will be calling the shots but will not be accountable for them.

Like I said in another thread, Art Jr. is showing some disturbing signs of being out of touch with the times in a number of areas in this organization.

And they keep hiding behind calling it "the Steeler way" acting as if that "way" will net more SB trophies, when it fact, you have to change with the times, not just remain cheap as hell. But it's easier - and cheaper - to just stick with an OC who is over his head, so that is why we will go with Canada again, not because he is best for the team succeeding.

Well, let's be even more truthful..

As long as the fans go for this stuff; and call it " The Steeler Way" then ownership can stay and continue to act like it's the 1990's. When you have posters who are proud of things that are done in the same way as they were done in the 1990's then that's a sign that the posters too are old thinking and stuck in their ways.

And ..the hypocrisy they show when they hammered the Bengals owner Brown for having a small scouting dept. and inferior facilities; but now, it's us who has the smallest scouting dept. in the league and continues to not use free agency significantly as well..these posters glaze over that.

They don't know how old they sound. It's sad too. The more the old system (and Tomlin ) fail them, the more they attack me and the other truthers.

But who knows what the "right" size staff is. And if such a thing does exist, I bet the number wouldn't be the same team-to-team or even season-to-season on the same team.
Not sure where the line is and you would get diminishing returns, but I think Tomlin and Canada could use some experienced coaches as advisors.

Another thing worth noting is Tomlin has been here so long he may be isolated from new ideas somewhat and should be looking to bring in people with fresh ideas that can challenge him to avoid getting stale in some ways.

With tech advancing so fast I don’t know how you can avoid bringing in more young innovators.

I would applaud us bringing in experienced, successful guys on both sides of the ball.

It's not happening on Shades' watch, unless they give his kid a scholarship to his favorite school, MD.

Art II... Art Jr actually helped to build the organization as a personnel man back in the day. Art II was just handed the team.

The three generation rule is holding true... First generation builds it, second generation grows it, third generation squanders it...
