    Steelers 2022 Team Performance

    Very close to a dead average team which if you are being honest is what it looked like for most of the season;

3rd in their division, outscored by 38, 3-5 vs. playoff teams, including a game they literally would have lost in Cincy had the ref simply called Chase's TD a TD (or the coach would have challenged), Baltimore with Huntley, and a 2-pt home win over the 8-9 Bucanneers.

    Just pure meh.

I think it is more of a "tale of 2 seasons" - First half and last half.

This team reminds me a lot of Bill Cowher's last season. Just going by memory they started 2-6 and finished a very strong 6-2, just missing the playoffs by a whisker.

I think the second half this season showed promise and with a strong draft and maybe a FA or 2 we will be right in the mix.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

Awesome turn around after an ugly start. Things are looking up this offseason. I know some want to live in negativity but the team exceeded most fan’s expectations for THIS year.

I remember fans asking if we missed Ben after each loss and during the bye week. Those snarky post died down and disappeared completely by the end of the year.

Also laughing my @ss off at those celebrating Tomlin’s first losing season at the midway point.

        “ItS tHE New StAnDArD”

yes, in some ways it is. We no longer have losing seasons with Tomlin (most thought it was all due to Ben) but this is our floor. Next year I expect playoffs and to make some noise.

I’ve never been this excited after missing the playoff’s.. lol.

Baby Boy Heyward was a great pickup

Warren is our 3rd down back

Robinson was exposed yesterday but should be ready to contribute/start next year hopefully.

        Leal is a keeper

Pickens was awesome.. that last sideline catch should’ve counted.

Pickett finished the season with 4 straight wins in must-win games and turned the corner after the bye. Dude is clutch!!!

Our defense is damn good when relatively healthy. What a turn around in the second half of the season. Sure, some will yap about the competition but this is a team they claimed didn’t step up against these types of teams when we needed it.

I’ve gotta feeeeeling for next year.

If they play another division in nfc, they’re under .500

Why don't we at least TRY to hide your disappointment it did not happen.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Going to be fun being petty and doing a search of all the folks who were celebrating Tomlin’s first losing season before the bye.

The Steelers ended the season playing better football than some teams that actually made the playoffs.

Showed steady improvement. The second half of the season proves we have something good to build on.

The team did well considering all the factors. Trubisky didn't play as well as the team expected. The new pieces on the Oline took some time to gel and get better. It helped that the Oline stayed relatively healthy. I hope the Oline can improve in pass protection.

Harris eventually learned that "dancing" isn't his game in the NFL. Watt was out for several games. KP improved as well. Hopefully KP will take the next step after one season. I don't expect KP to hit his stride until his 3rd season.

Young Heyward looks like a player. Can Robinson become a starter? Pickens is a player. Leal had his moments. Overall, the rookie class looks promising.

The Steelers found ways to win the close games they loss earlier in the season. The Steelers have some challenges a head in the off season. Hopefully they can bring back a few of the key pieces and upgrade positions and depth where needed.

The arrow is pointing up pretty much everywhere, except for (IMO) the offensive coordinator position. I think we need something better there to make any noise next season.

The single biggest factor is turnaround with the offensive line from a terrible unit into one that put up over 200 rush yards against the Ravens in Baltimore.

If this team can maintain that level of play next year, this team can compete for the AFC North.

In addition to taking pressure off Pickett, it does the same for the defense. Pickett needs to continue his development. Next year, the standard cannot be under 200 passing yards with 1 TD week after week.

More splash plays are needed and red zone offense must improve.

Boz also needs to return to form.

The team finished dead nuts where I thought they would. Same number of wins as the aged HOF QB last season. If Roethlisberger stuck around yet another season the Steelers likely make the playoffs (with a one and done.) The big difference is rather than watching the sun setting on a QB, we got to see the sun breaking on a new one.

There were at least another 3 teams that had similar turnarounds this season after abysmal starts; DET, JAX, GB.

Next season it really comes down to the QB. OL probably won't have wholesale changes. D will get tweaked but not rebuilt.

Hopefully KP avoids the sophomore slump. Also gotta get a adequate replacement for TJ since it looks likely he will miss time at some point next season based on the last few.

I had them at 8 wins. But thought it was more likely to miss low than high.

So I think they exceeded expectations.

Hope they get an new OC from outside that is average to good.

heh? I’m one of the few here that predicted a team finishing with a playoff record.
maybe I should have bashed you and most of the board for predicting a sub 500 record.

Would you be more of a private lemming on those posts ?

your sun setting vs sun rising is a great analogy for the QB position.

Maybe we get that extra win with Ben or maybe he looks like Brady and Rodgers and struggles early and we end up in the same place.

Thing is, with Pickett hopefully this is his floor and continues to improve. I’m pretty sure he will.
