    Mason

Wondering if Tomlin has the stones to start him Sunday. What if Mason lights it up. Talk about having egg on face! I don't think he will take the risk.

If Tomlin determines that Mason gives us the best chance to win, but won't start him because of this fear? He ought to quit as HC right now.

(Not that I think he's about to quit as HC)

I think it's going to be Mitch because they don't want to flip-flop back and forth every time a QB has a bad game. Also, Canada talked about how Mitch had to come in after taking 0 reps in practice all week, and that he "didn't want to do that to Mason this week", which implied Mason is getting reps in case he has to come in.

It's not just Tomlin, but the entire organization would have egg on their face if MR came in and kicked @ss. MT was their "prize" signing of the offseason. They were braggadocios about it. He was handed the keys to the car before he took a single snap in camp.

MT a Steeler prize? Boobie prize perhaps. Talking someone up is always good for the fan base but it's like putting " lipstick on the pig" as the saying goes. MT and MR are backups n nothing wrong with that. Some guys do peak late. Rich Gannon and Gino Smith are rare guys who developed late. Don't see that here. KP has a shot at being a good starter in this league. Perhaps one of those 2 guys stick to back him up perhaps not.

If KP8 was out an extended amount of time, maybe... But KP8's cleared protocol before, so I don't know that HE doesn't start...

Why would they egg on their face if Mason played well or won on Sunday?

I think this is a way to bash Tomlin after a win if this is the angle some are taking with Mason.

Most people didn’t like Mason but now if he wins a game vs the Panthers it will be used against the team?

              wtf?

We're choosing between two sub-par options.

And win or lose, we don't get the development of the QB we're going to keep.

This game is pretty meaningless IMO

It only makes sense if you think it through. MR simply has had so few reps it wouldn't do the team or him any favors by starting him. The time to argue between starting MR or MT was back in August, not in December.

Absolutely meaningless. I may have Red Zone on.

I think there’s one subpar option and it’s important going forward.

MT is a good teammate and a good backup QB and I think it’s good to keep him around and supporting KP for the long term.

I thought MT wasn’t very good at the beginning of the season, but he played a pretty good game last week outside of 3 errant throws. But that doesn’t take away he’s got a great arm, was mostly accurate, can be mobile and extend a play, and can generally run the same O as KP.

MR is nothing like the others. He’s slow thinking, he’s not mobile in the pocket, he’s not inspiring and other guys generally don’t gravitate toward him.

MR throws a catchable deep ball and that’s it. He’s not supportive. He’s not a leader on the team.

It MT is accepting of a backup role, I think he’s the keeper and keeping him happy and getting him action with KP out is the best path long term.

Why would it take "stones" to start a player like Mason Rudolph at QB? I would think it would take like 6-8 beers and a few bong hits to decide to start a player like Rudolph at QB, but not stones/balls of any kind.
