This is what happens when you can't beat your man

Your coach just throws up his hands and says 'it is what it is'. Nevermind trying to scheme around it by loading the box, playing more big nickel, etc., just say you got beat, so be it.

This was supposed to be an all-star defensive coaching staff with Tomlin, Austin, and Flores, and they can't figure out how to stop the run?

If the last six quarters of football have shown anything for the Pittsburgh Steelers' defense, the run defense remains a serious problem for the black and

They don't have the horses to stop the run. The talent just isn't there. Oh...and Wormley just went on IR for the rest of the year.

Canada has taken the bulk of the criticism, deservedly so, but Austin seems to mostly be getting a pass as the leader of the D. And Smith must have photos and/or data on someone to keep his job. All three should be gone at the end of the season. Im guessing all three are back next year.

Wonder why the headline isn't "Steelers give up 16 pts in each of the last two games".

I wish the run D was better. And we really needed some stops against the Rats. Especially when they were down to their 3rd QB.

But the D is still keeping us in most games...although we still look bad against explosive offenses IMO.

Eagles, Bungles, Bills and the Clowns are really the only teams that hit around that 30+ mark.

          Falcons: 16
          Colts: 17
          Bungles 2: 37
          Saints: 10
          Eagles: 35
          Fins: 16
          Bucs: 18
          Bills: 38
          Jets: 24
          Clowns 1: 29
          Cheaters: 17
          Bungles 1: 20

With a reasonably good offense, we should be at 8 wins.

            agreed.

our defense is far from elite, but our offense is offensive.

Pts/gm= 17.5 (27th). This offense is below average and defense is average. Tomlin's grand plan of a strong defense and conservative offense hasn't panned out. So he needs to go back to the drawing board on that one.

Any team can stop the run if they commit enough bodies to it, at the risk of getting beat in the passing game. That risk did not exist vs. Huntley and the rookie. Inexcusable.

This team is loaded with talent
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

Can't beat our chest at our top-paid defense allowing the Ravens 16 points with their 2nd and 3rd string QBs leading a one-dimensional offense

                    pathetic

They can't stop a one-dimensional offense with a rookie QB and a RB fresh off IR? Don't have the horses with:
                      DPOY Watt
                      HOFer Cam
1st rd picks Bush, Minkah, etc

Spillane is probably the best run stopping ILB on the team. They decided not to put Spillane on the field but left Bush out there to tackle after a 5 yard gain. Did they really fear that the QB would start passing if Spillane came in??

                        Coaching matters in some cases.

Well, I guess this what happens when you can beat your man?

We owned Carolina in the trenches. All the radio talking heads in Carolina are dumbfounded after the way they beat Seattle in Seattle.
