    New offense

With Claypool gone, the Steelers featured a ground game and gave more plays to Warren. Warren shined as a receiver. Taking Claypool out of the mix reduces our mistakes. I'm fine with the offense as is it for the rest of the season and for once this season Harris played well for a change. You could say his staring role depends on it! Look for more of a split backfield as Warren proves he can handle the starting role. The OL had issues especially Dotson who needs to be benched.

It felt nice to win a game. Even one vs the lowly Saints who have injury issues. Why did we cut Nick Scibua? The guy we keep instead missed two field goals and kicked off like crap. A bad head coaching decision. Boswell is going to be out for awhile.

Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

While this is a post about offense, I thought the defense did a great job considering the late drop of Fitz. Held their outside receivers to only about 65 yards total. Also held the Saints to something like 30 yards rushing.
Regarding offense; heard the other day that defenses are having a very hard time against two back sets this season. Seems most of the league has focused on defending against the RPO but been very vulnerable against two backs. Is it time to bring back the FB? Maybe a split backfield with Warren and Harris? Get creative Canada! More and better running will do wonders for KP too. I like some of what Harris did yesterday with planting his foot and running down hill. Somebody finally got into his head about the dancing (or maybe they rolled the tape in the team mtg on his failed 3rd down last week).

I think it's a one game sample, but hopefully we do continue to improve. It was particularly encouraging to get some big runs IMO.

I agree with NC that it was nice that the D didn't fold with Fitz out. Probably got lucky that it happened at the same time Kazee came back, so at least we had another option at S.

Hopefully we can continue to get better and maybe stack some wins.

Cincy coming up should be interesting. We haven't faired well against explosive offenses in at least the last two seasons. Hopefully the D can keep a lid on their scoring and the O can start getting points in bunches.

What was new about it? I heard they ran more in breaking routes but I didn’t see much that was different.

The real difference is the opponent we just played and having 2 weeks to game plan against them.

Pretty sure the Saints pass defense is better than their rushing defense too.

Still only 20 points against a terrible team.

end of the half scared me. Looked like another game where we let them hang around even though we thoroughly outplayed them.

Glad to see the D step up and help secure the win.

should’ve been 26 but I’m sure that wouldn’t be enough to make you happy after a win.

Shout out to the other Watt…Derek

He gets lots of hate but isn’t his fault how he is used or not used. Came through when called on

Did you think they were terrible at 1:00 yesterday? I heard all week that my optimism was unfounded because even the underwhelming opponents on the schedule were better with better QBs.

                    At least 23.

I would like to see some better passing in the red zone. TD passes particularly.

But hopefully that will come as he gets more experience / comfort with the faster play and tighter windows in the NFL.

Najee dropped a TD. Ball was placed perfectly.

Somebody shined in the passing game? We had under 200yds and 0 Td's. What was new exactly? Warren made a few plays but Najee looked good too, both are going to get work but Najee is the clear starter.

One time Harris has the better YPA and only as a runner this year. What about the other games? I have seen enough to that Warren is the better pass catcher. They were co-starters to pen the game were they not?

There are reasons why we don't throw many post routes! Or passes in general that travel 10 years beyond the sticks. One theory is we don't have the WR's. Can you guess the other?
