Just a few thoughts to sum up our entry into the bye.
I think Pickett will be fine. Lots of good there, the learning will continue.
The o-line is not just being out physical’d - their mental mistakes combined with poor technique are killing drives. I point to illegal formation penalties on the tackles as an example.
It’s been a fierce competition all year as to who on defense is the ‘guy’. Witherspoon has won that hands down. And by the ‘guy’ I mean the one opposing teams target non stop knowing good things will happen. That’s also why I said he’s won it hands down. If he’d just turn around and get his hands up, he wouldn’t give up back breaking td’s every game. Unlike our coaching staff, I can be quite clever……
I believe a good punter is consistent in his long punts with occasional boomers. Harvin has the occasional boom, but his average punts are offset every game by a shank or two. In other words, he has been horrible this year.
The knock on Najee has been he doesn’t see the holes. That doesn’t make sense to me. He clearly sees the first down marker, it’s why he hesitates and stops short. All joking aside, warren should start next game. He’s earned it.
The ills of this offense have many components. Lazy routes by wr’s, bad o-line, predictable play calling, needing 4 downs to get 10 yards. The list goes on. But our offense is dead last in the league. You can’t fire the players and someone needs to be accountable. If Canada is still employed tomorrow - the Steelers aren’t interested in salvaging this season.
