Don't come in here and try and tell us 17-0 is unrealistic
Are we really that bad or did we have unrealistic expectations?

I don't think tanking in the NFL has the same impact that it does in the NBA.Is an NFL draft lottery system coming?
We don't see this mentioned in NFL media, but I think it is very likely the NFL will have a draft lottery like the NHL or NBA has. Yes-- the NBA commissioner is openly talking about teams tanking for their draft. There is a guy from France who is 7'4" with a skill set only found in a players 6"-8" shorter then he is. A generational talent they say and a slam sunk to be the #1 overall pick. A way to limit obvious tanking.
Anyway I think a draft lottery is cool for the fans and its not like we will ever get the first pick in my lifetime. It's great for ratings too. Fans dream of getting that ping pong ball, and the way its revealed is excellent. We are tending for a " lottery pick " currently.
What do you think?
Basketball has less moving parts than a football team. The NFL draft isn't a guarantee. The NBA draft is more of a guarantee.
The Browns were tanking or not tanking for years and what did it get them? A reset button every 3 to 4 seasons.
I think it's hard to build a consistent winner in the NFL by tanking.
In some ways teams are tanking by giving up future draft picks for players that may or may not workout.
It's hard to build a consistent winner in any league.Comment

That's true. But if there is a sure fire way to get that rare Defensive lineman or QB in the draft, I'm talking about the first player picked at these key positions, teams may do it. At least I think they are more likely to tank in the current system. The NBA came up with their lottery draft to limit tanking.I don't think tanking in the NFL has the same impact that it does in the NBA.

Of corse if a team really wants to tank, they would hire the worst GM, like one from the Jets or Browns had but the optics of doing that would stink like lake Erie at low tide.Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.
Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.
*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***Comment

As are most that still predict playoffs for this team: delusional. That group of alias posters (Bawb & company) guaranteed Kenny would be the starter week 1. Now they/he is claiming we will still make the playoffs. Credibility is not their strong suit. How, with this anemic of an offense, are we going to real off 8-9 more wins?Comment

a group of alias posters don't have credibility? lmao.. that's obvious. As are most that still predict playoffs for this team: delusional. and I also predicted Kenny would start day 1. He started 3.5 games later. It's wasn't an unrealistic prediction given how Mitch looked to start the season. I think we would be further along if Kenny started day 1 and had more reps in camp with the one's.
But that isn't a big deal IMO. Most people on this board predicted Tomlin's first losing season. While it looks like it could happen there is still 10 games left and our schedule gets a little lighter after the bye. If Watt comes back we may not need a ton of points to win games.
and looking at the AFCN it's not unrealistic to think 9 wins might win the division.Steelers 27

Is having maybe the 5th best QB declining to maybe the 20th th in the league supposed to guarantee championships.Look at the thread predict our regular season record, and try not to laugh at the calls. Winning 7 games is the celling the floor would be 4 games. Don't forget RB as your needs. Of course not addressed is the coaching. One that has taken a nine win season to where we were now. We have squandered Ben's last five seasons. Even you must agree with that.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Pretty big swing. It shall be interesting to see what Shanahan can do with him.~~
I have no credibility, and neither do I... LOL Speaking of credibility, what did you call Christian McCaffrey?? McCafferty or something like that?? Truly, yours is a superior intellect... (Ricardo Montalbon, Wrath of Khan...)Last edited by TheRealTazz864; 10-23-2022, 04:52 PM.Comment
