I admit. Tomlin needs to be more accountable

Dude, I was not trying to "get" anybody. I did separate posts expecting people to see BOTH and get the point. It's pretty funny to see someone fall into the "trap" after it's already been "sprung". Using almost the same wording as post 2 (without apparently reading post 3).
I was thinking "Lemming probably could have waited a little longer on this one to see if he could catch more people".
I literally pushed the first and was writing the second and Maniac slipped in before I posted the second. It was like 10 minutes.
By the time Joel replied I thought the gig was up.
Frank truth is the fact that they were SO QUICK to agree to my first post, without any thought makes my case so much stronger.sigpic
In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Captain Lemming, Northern Blitz, got a question.Dude, I was not trying to "get" anybody. I did separate posts expecting people to see BOTH and get the point.

So when a guy says " I'm being accountable" is that what you call being accountable?Comment

I began the thread with THIS quote.
whisper is talking about what Tomlin "says".
Rather than reply in the original thread I brought it here.
So it was in the context of criticism of Tomlins "statements" that I started this thread.
Whisper made the FALSE claim that Tomlins using the term "we" was a way to avoid accountability.
I showed that YES he ACCURATELY says "we" but ABSOLUTELY took ownership of it ultimately as HIS responsibility.
What is accountability of actions?
If by "actions" you expect a competitive coach to say, "I give up, Madden says I am terrible, I fire myself"?
"I give back half my salary because we lost a playoff game?"
Is THAT what you expect?
I think that kind of accountability of action is a ridiculous expectation.Last edited by Captain Lemming; 10-17-2022, 11:12 PM.sigpic

Look at my last post. My answer is YES in the context of the original criticism.
If Kenny throws 3 picks and says "we" made mistakes and it starts with ME.
He SAYS I have to be better, I can't make those kinds of mistakes.
Is he not being accountable?sigpic

On some level yes because you're admitting fault. But politicians do this all the time without actually having any consequences. In this case, I don't know what else he can do publicly. He can't fire himself.
But the question was not is he being accountable.
The question was does he ever say it was his responsibility or he was accountable.
This is demonstrably true in many cases. But people are blinded by hate for Tomlin so they refuse to see the reality of it.Comment

being accountable doesn’t mean mistakes won’t happen again or bad losses won’t happen again.
When a QB turns the ball over or a defense gets shredded and takes accountability it doesn’t mean it won’t ever happen again.
Accountability is acknowledging the mistakes happened and they were responsible.Steelers 27

In sports you can change schemes, coaches, players etc. and the film and score makes it easier to compare results.
Politics takes forever and involves so many other votes it can take years to see change in policy.
which is why we love sports and hate politics
