In retrospect Man how great a QB Ben Roethlisberger really was...

While his history shows how great he was just looking over the last few seasons really shows Ben's greatness.

Even with his talents waning he was still able to take this crap filled talent lacking squad, an incompetent OC and a fear filled Head Coach on his arthritic shoulders and take them to the playoffs. Even if it was 9-8 it was still the bar.

I am liking what I see from KP in his makeup, but wow Ben really did will this team forward.

this might have happened last season if it weren't for all of Ben's dramatic 4th quarter comebacks.

I think if we have Ben now at worse we are 4-1.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

Big Ben certainly saved 'ol Mike from multiple losing seasons. The dude was the best QB in Steeler history.

As a football fan, I really appreciate this homage to Ben... As a Steeler fan, I'm concerned with "Tom"pa Bay...
If the Steeler D (Teryl Austin, I'm lookin' at you...) can scheme-up a way to get home on the QB (I don't think anyone should rely on TB12II (Bradshaw's the OG TB12...) to be very inaccurate...) that will compensate for the Steeler's depleted secondary....

Obviously Ben is the last member of Cowher Power so Tomlin’s days of riding those old coat tails are officially over and it’s showing.

Yup, and some of us knew this day was coming. And it is here. What you got now, Cool Shades?

Wheezy's got nuthin' but pejorative nicknames (As far as I know, "Cool Shades" is patent pending for the Biden administration, and Sleepy Joe is not in the NFL....)

                  Whoa.. slow down there.

Weren’t we 1-3 with Ben to start the season last year?

Lost to Vegas AT HOME and lost another game to the Bengals that wasn’t as close as the score.

and didn’t someone also point out like 3 of those 4th quarter comebacks were just turnovers on short fields and game winning FG’s.

Eh, I don't know about that, Ben is one of the greatest ever but he is clearly past his prime and this team has a ton of problems. But also would that actually be a good thing? We saw what happened last year when the Steelers just made it in due to Ben's comebacks and it was ugly. The team really just needs a full reboot imo instead of spinning wheels each season.

I think it's fair to say that there are two games that Ben of last year likely win...

                        Pats
                        Jets

I mean he would've done better than MItch's paltry game against the Pats...so I don't think it would be a stretch to say it's possible they would be sitting at 3-2 today with Ben
(However, I guess there is an argument to be made wouldn't have been the two rushing TD QB sneaks against the Jets so who knows maybe 2-3 )

All of that said, he would've been a drain on the cap and the Steelers needed to cut bait at this point. But that doesn't diminish how he willed this team forward (and yes Felt, he didn't walk on water but I watched him last year and I saw what he did with what he had).

Hey I think Ben for the most part was great last season all things considered, a lot of posters on here were clinging to Ben being washed up and poor Canada couldn't run his offense properly which is looking more and more like complete BS. But again, what would be the point this season, it's in the best interest for the team to turn over a new chapter, including coaches. And as you said Ben's contract would also be an issue.

No, he didn’t mask much last year.

What was our record last year without Watt or in games he didn’t finish?

Ben doesn’t play defense. Without our best defender we are not a good team on defense.

Started 1-3 with him last year. This team is worse.
