Pretty good deal if you can play in the NFL until your mid-30s. Get's you into the "old money crew".
technically, his 2nd contact was with the steelers.

when he signed new england's offer he was a restricted free agent after his 3rd year. the steelers matched the offer

        Chase Claypool just said:

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

        TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

Manny had a drop against the Rats on a 2pt conversion and some fans never forgave him for it. I think that and the injuries soured some fans.

He lived up to the contract Denver offered him. They knew what he was capable of.. and we also had a lot of talent at WR and we couldn’t pay everyone

Solid career. Made good money, played a long time, won a championship and left healthy.

Hard to criticize any of that.

posters vilified mike wallace for turning down the steelers offer and signing with the dolphins.

manny did that twice, plus, like you said, took shots at the organization and this isn't even a tenth of the "hate" wallace received

I don’t remember him being vilified but I do remember his game being bashed as one trick.

Most predicted he would fail because he wasn’t a well rounded WR.
