I don’t think he is selling the team. I think Ben’s jersey being retired is floating around because someone has inside scoop.

But we will find out this afternoon.
    Maybe they’re retiring Keisel’s jersey and announcing Larry O can’t wear 99.

my money is on Ben but what if AB is resigning with us?
I like that theory, the Prodigal Son comes home. He's tired of eating corn husks and he crawls on his knees to his first team. It would be good for the Steelers and AB. Redemption and cumbaya together.

And Ben is coming out of retirement and he and AB will lead the Steelers to the SB. God Bless America, what a story!

Mason Rudolph will be "moved" to the IR because of a paper cut he received when reading the new depth chart that put him as the #3 QB. Duck Hodges will come out of retirement to be the #3 QB for the Steelers

He was named team president before the 2003 season. Then we win the SB in the 2005 season. Win another one in the 2008 season. And make a 3rd in 2010.

At that time, the message boards I was on (here and the Trib) were saying that Art II was the one that actually cared about winning (like his Grandfather). And thank God he was here so someone would push Dan to care about winning.

Fans are fickle. Especially ones that have been spoiled (who then become entitled).

Turns out winning SBs is hard...who knew?
The complainers will constantly b!tch and whine no matter who is in charge...because they are delusional enough to think they should be
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"

A new ownership group consisting of Tom Brady and his wife, Ben Roethlisberger and the Trump family will announced soon.

Antonio Brown will be named OC after the season and former Steeler great Chad Scott will be named DC.

Tomlin will be fired. His replacement will be Devin Bush.

Thanks that is all have for today.

Oddly, I recently read an article on the wealth of all NFL owners...guess where Art 2 came in? Second to last, with a $1.2 billion worth. Only Mark Davis was worth less. The value of the Steelers themselves is listed at $4.26 billion, so obviously Art 2 only owns about 25% of the team, or less. It's a clear cut example of the Rooneys' wealth being only tied to the ownership of the Steelers. And even at that, there's a lot of team ownership that they do not own.

I was a little surprised Art 2 was only worth $1.2. Owning a team as super popular as the Steelers puts him in 2nd to last of most wealthy owners. Tepper, the NFL's richest owner (of the Panthers) is worth over $16 billion. (103rd richest person in the world).

Jerry Jones comes in at 3rd, being worth over $10 billion.

Rooney’s owned some horse gambling I believe but they were forced to sell or remove themselves from the Steelers. I believe this is why Art 2 isn’t worth as much as one would think. Pretty sure he chose the Steelers over the other family business.

Tepper made his money in Hedge Funds and while he is worth $16 Billion down here a lot of people think he stinks as an owner.

Now, he did bring MLS to Charlotte AND opened the stadium up to concerts which has been great. Richardson refused to let anyone use the stadium for anything besides football which means the city had a huge empty stadium for long stretches.

Lastly, Tepper just filed bankruptcy for one of his sports companies down here because South Carolina balked on their portion of the deal.

Its hard to feel sorry for Tepper when he wants to use tax dollars when dude is worth 16 Billion but that is how the rich stay rich.

This is troubling news if it is true. I don't begrudge Art II for selling but this would be bad news for us I believe. These quick risers want results and they want to make money. Once again I hope this is not what's going on or perhaps in a few years we may be seeing the San Antonio Steelers.
NO Billionaire gives a sheet about PGH or PS or YOU more than MONEY including Artie. If the MONEY is there they'll be the San Antonio, Memphis, Moscow or Tokyo Steelers. Please try to grow the hell up and quit using WE, MY and OUR Steelers, okay? IT ISN'T REAL NOW and it never was real.

That's reality. Deal with it - or is that way too "COMMIE" for you?

He also appears to be a "red ass." (See Jim Rome for explanation: "Red Ass" means a generally angry person with an angry disposition on most matters. He also can be a "likes to fight guy" as well.). The dude does just seem pissed off most of the time, like what's he have to be so angry about? He's worth $16 billion? Chill out dude. You've already made as much jack as you can ever spend, or your kids or their kids can ever spend.

I don't think it will be ownership change, but it's not impossible.

IIRC, it was difficult for them to do the transition last time. Appreciation of the team lead to MASSIVE capital gains when ownership changes.

Since the Rooney's don't have huge amounts of liquid assets (like the heir to Walmart), I believe the reason they had to sell minority ownership stakes was that they needed the money to pay the taxes for the ownership transition.

If ARII was transitioning out (I don't think he is), it might trigger another big tax event. And / or they might not really have a family heir that it makes sense to pass it down to.

I don't think this is what he's going to announce (why right before the season?), but it is possible.

I think it's more likely to be something like retiring a jersey. Can't be going to new 3rds, right? I think that kind of announcement would have happened already.

                            We'll know soon either way.

If they didn't retire Lloyd's old # (95) then no way in hell should they retire Keisel's. #95 is amongst the best players in the history of the franchise. And he certainly is among the most feared and bad @ssed. And yet, I frequently see #95 out there. They might as well allow #58.
