    Red Zone Offense

In PIT-DET game the offense settled for FGs after reaching the 27, 16, and 20 yard lines. It makes me wonder whether they will again struggle in the RZ this season. Last year they were ranked 29th in RZ success rate (39% vs NFL avg = 46%). The passing success rate was abysmal at 34% (NFL avg 41%).

(Also, looks like Lions QB (Boyle) will be cut after his showing in the game..... a Rudolph trade in the works?!?)

Mitch Trubisky likely sealed starting quarterback job with brilliant first half

    Detroit Lions v Pittsburgh Steelers

Kenny Pickett did enough in the first two preseason games to prompt a question about whether he would open the season as the Steelers’ starter. Mitch Trubisky reminded everyone in the first half Sunday that he’s still the best option for now.

Trubisky was nearly perfect in the first half against the Lions in the NFL’s final preseason game.

He went 15-of-19 for 160 yards and a touchdown as the Steelers led 16-0 at halftime.

The Steelers scored on four of six first half possessions. The only negative was the three field goals Pittsburgh settled for after reaching the Detroit 27, 16 and 20.

Trubisky finished the preseason 24-of-34 for 283 with with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

The job was his to lose going into training camp, and he didn’t.

If we can't run block, I think we'll be bad in the RZ.

So far... Not looking great imo

2nd and 8 call at the Detroit 9, they handed off to Snell. Pickett was berating the sideline, which was good to see.

I loved seeing Pickett show his displeasure but also realize coaches aren’t always interested in calling the best plays in preseason based on down and distance.

They know Pickett can throw TD’s. They still don’t know if Snell is worth keeping or if the OL can open an hole (they know, but you know..) they still want to see if the OL can do anything on the ground.

Also added more pressure to Pickett for his 3rd down play.

          Great Points.

Loved seeing the fire in the kid. That shows grit. In that moment his muscle memory was telling him to score. He was not thinking preseason, he was thinking, red zone..... capitalize. Looking forward to his continued growth.

Scoring the maximum amount of points possible going to boil down to this Olines ability to pass block outside and inside the redzone.
