The idea that Kenny Pickett a rookie at 24 yrs old should sit because, he would have an emotional meltdown if he doesn't do well or something, is one of the most ludicrous, air-headed ideas I have seen posted.
I'll give a partial list of 1st round QBs who came in the NFL and started immediately at age 22-23. Josh Allen, Teddy Bridgewater, Mac Jones, Zach Wilson, Dak Prescott, Daniel Jones, Sam Darnold, Kyler Murray. All of these QBs did not have great seasons. You would think that QBs who start in NY would experience a great deal of pressure to succeed, Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones nor Zach Wilson did not have good QB ratings or lead their teams to winning records, but they did not end up in the psych ward, being restrained and banging their head against a concrete wall, while being medicated. They are emotionally fine and continuing with their careers. All of the above are fine.
There is absolutely zero chance, that Kenny Pickett, who is a completely emotionally balanced individual, probably more so than most other QBs, will either play that poorly and/or that the fan reaction to however he plays, would be that negative, that he would have some version of a Mayfield meltdown and be completely ruined thereafter. It is a ridiculous fantasy.
But Pickett will have to continue to show his mettle in the upcoming game. The effect of fine performance against Seattle is wearing off and people are retrenching their former positions.
