Mason Rudolph has the best passing stats so far

Camp stats through first 4 practices. Clear differences at QB.

    Rudolph: 22/32 (68.9%) 181 yards (5.7 YPA) 4 TDs 0 INT – 8.2 YPC
    Trubisky: 16/32 (50%) 159 yards (5.0 YPA) 3 TDs 3 INTs – 9.9 YPC
    Pickett: 13/26 (50%) 55 yards (2.1 YPA) 1 TD 2 INTs – 4.2 YPC

As we'll do following each off day, we're tracking training camp stats for the Pittsburgh Steelers' 2022 summer. We're not beholden to these stats but we

The stats are the stats. The are without pads and real football though which makes it easier on the QB's though. I am shocked that Pickett is averaging 2.1 YPA. I worry about that arm, the velocity in, his hands and whether or not he'll adjust to the NFL ball, ( college ball is different ) and competition he played in college ( big east schedule ). A one year wonder who played for 4 years in college he was. Anyone else uneasy about his play thus far? It's only been a few practices sure, but his play has me alarmed.

Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

This is fake football with no tackling and no pads, if you're taking this too seriously and drawing conclusions from it, you're showing your a$$ a little bit.

The only alarming thing to me is that Mitch is getting all the first team reps, as if there really isn't a competition at all.

From what we’ve heard from past seasons is play in camp weighs a lot in factoring in who the starters will be.

perhaps that mean once the pads come on but I wouldnt entirely dismiss this first week either

Regarding KP8, trust any evaluation that didn't select KP8 in Rnd https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/training-camp-recap-day-4-kenny-pickett-finally-gets-his-shot/ar-AA109aAP

If Claypool can capture his rookie magic and Pickens amazes, why not MR? Arguably the best vertical passer of group. MT and KP remind me of dink, dank, dunkers.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

Yes, but I thought Canada's offense was going to be geared around a QB who could run and dink, dank and dunk?

The stats seem to align perfectly with experience in the offense or NFL.
MR throws a nice deep ball when he has time.

No judgments are valid until we get the pads on starting Monday. Then..see after they face a real pass rush in preseason. Then we can start to formulate some ideas. Relax fellas.

he does, but he has absolutely terrible pocket presence.

MR won't look nearly as good once he faces a pass rush.

Mason was never bad. He just never really had a chance and he became the whipping boy for those who needed more to hate the team

IMO he'll never be great, but could be a middle of the league starter e.g. Andy Dalton

My money though is still on Trubisky

I was a hater and kicked it. MR may be the best 2022 QB in camp. The question is why the Steelers couldn't or wouldn't plan for Ben's decline and 2021 crap out years ago. Artie's edict to draft Najee comes closest. How MT and Colbert wouldn't see the 18-Wheeler coming should surprise more but doesn't.

TRADING Ben in 2015 or 2016 for draft picks and players 5 years after losing to Green Bay based on "Yeah, but what have you done lately for us?" is on Artie, Billionaire Nice Guy. Cruel but fair.

Andy Dalton was in his prime an above average stating quarterback. Rudolph has never, nor will he likely reach that level. He doesn't have Dalton's arm, mobility, and like isn't as skilled reading a defense. Not that Dalton was elite in these areas.

I think I remember Tom Brady went 38 of 40 for 440 yards and 18 TDs and no INTs his first week of camp during his rookie year.

Those 11 YPA let everyone know he would be the GOAT.

In all seriousness, these numbers could matter but they likely don’t.
