    Larry Ogunjobi Wins Day 1

Of all the initial interviews I heard of player arriving in Latrobe, I was most surprised how much I like Ogunjobi.

I didn’t realize he went to Charlotte like Highsmith. Could Charlotte be the key to this year’s D success?

I recommend listening to any clips you can find of this guy. Seems like a good dude. I’m rooting for him.

Its nice to see Charlotte getting some recognition. They just started their football program in 2013.

We definitely could use him. I think he is still relatively young.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

I was preaching they take Larry a month before they did, glad they did so.

Glad he's not on PUP. But apparently he didn't participate much.

Hope that he's healthy and can make an impact on the field.

          Especially if Alualu is out.

Yes, that is a deep concern. We need Alualu this year, for sure. Even if he rotates in and out during the game.

I like to move to get Larry, but would have preferred a DT/NT in free agency.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Hmmm. Where would alualu rank In importance of D players on this squad?
                  10th? 11th?
maybe less if we include Nickel guys ( Sutton/Levi)

will the scape goat in 2022 for another disappointing defense and coaching job be because the 11th most important man on D isn’t healthy ?
wouldnt most good coaches find enough to replace the 11th most important player ??

The Steelers were dead last in the NFL in rushing yards allowed. The ONLY team to allow 5 YPC. I think having Alualu back is pretty damn important.

I think it's less about any individual vs. the performance of the DL as a unit (and the run-D in particular). Alualu is part of that, but not the only part.

I think getting down so deep into the depth chart at DL mattered last season re: run D. Especially when we didn't have a ton of proven depth because of the cap constraints.

Unfortunately, we still have a bunch of dead money to work through this year. But hopefully the DL can stay healthier and the ILBs can make more plays vs. the run.

If Minkah has more tackles than all the ILBs again, I think that's not a good sign.

Ogunjobi was held out of the run test, Alualu already has swelling in his knee.

I realize it's only Day 1, but our DL is not off to a great start. I hope this isn't a repeat of last year...

                          Not great.

Hopefully it's not like last year's OL, which didn't seem to get to play together until the last preseason game (if at all?). Hard to remember exactly, but I think that's true.

One year we lost what many would have e you believe was the greatest NT to ever play the game.
inserted hoke, Someone who wasn’t even drafted.

we went 15-1 that year iirc. Or was it the SB winning year??

Was that coaching staff that much better then the current one?

Hokey started the last 10 games of the 2004 season when we went 15-1. You seem to be mixing that along with the Steelers record in games that he started, which is 17-1 over his career.

He was just a solid player who rose to the occasion when his number was called and was surrounded by defensive studs. Alualu may have had Watt and Heyward flanking him on both sides, but the rest of the defense wasn't as stout as what Hoke played with. Perhaps equally important, we had no Hoke on the team last year. Adams looked okay at times but got run over with regularity. Not sure why you are looking at the coaching staffs as the explanation.
