My Top 10 Favorite Steelers and My Top 10 Best Posters at Planet Steelers

My Top 10 Favorite Steelers of All Time

    1. Hines Ward - The ultimate team player. Very professional in his approach to the game. Didn't have a lot of talent but became the best WR in the team's history by having exceptional determination. Should be in the Hall Of Fame as far as I'm concerned.

    2. James Harrison - The scariest and meanest LB in the team's history. An underdog who became a somebody by being a workout warrior and one powerful SOB. Somewhere Coach Crusader meets Harrison in a dark alley for a mentoring session. Imagine that?

    3. Troy Polamalu - The agility, quickness, range and the playmaking of this dude was off the charts. I love those plays when Polamalu jumped over the o-line and tackled the QB in an instant. Amazing.

    4. TJ Watt - The best pass rusher of all time who never takes a play off. That non stop motor and endurance of that young man is incredible for such a large man.

    5. Jerome Bettis - For such a mammoth out of shape RB, he had such nimble feet running over the poor souls who got in his way. Steelers football!

    6. Rod Woodson - A difference maker on the defense at all times. He had a knack for intercepting the ball and returning them for touchdowns. A well deserved HOFer.

    7. Heath Miller - Quietly did his job really well. Never complained, had sure hands and never partook in those idiotic choreographed celebrations.

    8. Merrill Hoge - This is probably an odd choice for most people but I appreciated his running style.

    9. Antonio Brown - I didn't like the way thing ended with Brown, but for those years he was here it was magical.

    10. Ben Roethlisberger - I always had a love hate relationship with our QB. I think I yelled at him every single game when he had mobility, to get rid of the ball. This however is what made him great. Glad he turned his life around and became a great human.

Well thanks but the Steelers did play football prior to 1987, and we are full of hall of fame players. I'm guessing by your list you didn't see much of them? I once did an all time top 50 steelers. I change a few things now, but I was content with the work.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

I didn't have my own television to watch until my parents bought me one when I was 13 years old which was in 1982. So, I didn't see those great players in action unfortunately. I doubt I knew too much about football at that time to understand the game to well either. If I'm not mistaken, I had the choice between watching the Browns or Steelers on cable. I chose the Steelers from the Erie stations across the lake, as I liked the black and gold colors better.

        Prowler,
I like the top of your list... I personally would have gone 1.) JH and 2.) Ward. Ward is deserving of a 1 though.
Now looking at your list of posters, something looks off with this Coach C infatuation. The dude has been here 5 days, and has a grand total of 7 posts... so to that I will quote our corrupt, senile POTUS in saying... "C'mon man"!!

If anyone listens to Martavis Bryant on morning radio (yea, I know, not the greatest but it's on during my short commute) he was asked about who the greatest player he ever saw training for a season. He said it was an easy choice; Greg Lloyd. Martavis said he thought himself a hard trainer, but Lloyd was maniacal. He said even today the guy looks like he could suit up and be a starter.
Lloyd was one of the best, along with K Green.

            This above....

I remember strat-o-matic football has a rule only for the 76 Steelers that pre-snap (dice role) the Steelers LB could adjust their LB to account for whether it was a run or pass play...

That is pretty awesome exception in my opinion

So most of my top 10 would be from the 70's...

Hell they changed a rule for Mel Blount! He has to be in the top 3 at least!

Deebo is like Lloyd (mean, hitting machine) in the run and pass) and K Green (pass rush beast), wrapped up in one agry Steeler.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

That's pretty good... Top 10 in 50 posts or less....
I'm not sure my body of work is prolific enough to merit this, though...
If that's accurate, the rest of you people need to step-up your game...

I don't post crapola, Amigo. As for "most hated," no problem with me. I'm here for Steeler info. After that, who cares? James Harrison kept his integrity, slept thru Tomlin, briefly joined the Patz and still goes his own way as far as I know. Anything after that is 100% gravy.
