That's not true... That wasn't the question... The Playoffs are a whole new season... In almost every playoff game, the announcers say that... Those who predicted that the Steelers would go 9-8 were the most correct... I predicted 17-0 because I always want the Steelers to win... I'm not just a football fan, I'm a Steelers fan... So those that predicted 9-8 would make it to the playoffs were right... Unfortunately, not ALL 9-8 teams made it...
Season record predictions- and "why"?

You will note most unrealistic positives were high.
Negatives were low.
Those I consider "realistic" were also a little low.
NOBODY called our actual record.
Buzz "kinda" hit it saying about 500.
I was close 8-9.
SPECIAL note is that NJ is in fact had us with a winning record. He just reminded us he predicted playoffs and he definitely did.
I will suggest this.
If Watt is not injured, it might have been right.
Happy that I underestimated us. But wish Kenny played in the 1st Rats game, because then I think I'd have underestimated by 2 and we'd have one more game (at least).Comment

And while it might feel like buying high after the season he just had, he might want to wait until next offseason when we'd have to decide whether or not to franchise him.
I think deciding what to do about Highsmith (1a: extend or let ride with potential for franchise tag next season) and Sutton (1b: let walk and take the dummy year cap hit or extend...and if we extend, can we and spread that dummy year money out?).
While I think the Highsmith decision might be more important, I think the Sutton decision has to be made first though because his contract probably voids 5 days after the SB or something.Comment

I agree. I think we put the tag on him like Dupree then he is gone.
Considering BOTH the need to have a solid backup for TJs injuries and the inevitability that Highsmith has a limited future, the sad truth is we are going to need to use a more premium pick than we'd like to shore up a team strength.
It did work beautifully in replacing Dupree. Sadly we that diverts from other needs
But edges are expensive, so we might not be able to.Comment

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

That is why I gave you deserved props after the bump. Your take was more positive than even me and I acknowledged you by name.
For others I said, page 6 of this thread:
But my friend let me share a secret.
THAT IS WHY I STARTED THIS THREAD.
Everybody is ON RECORD with their expectations for this team in transition.
Haters are actually on point in their expectations based on "talent".
When haters hate on Tomlin DESPITE our surpassing their CLEARLY EXPRESSED expectations, guess what?
BUMP.
You sir passed the test. Props to you because as I said you were a Watt injury away from calling it spot on.Last edited by Captain Lemming; 01-09-2023, 08:55 PM.sigpic

TBH, I'm really surprised there wasn't a 9-8 at all in the thread. Those of us with 10-7 or 8-9 have equal claim to closest, I guess. But, horseshoes and hand grenades2013 MNF Executive Champion!Comment
