    Changes from Kahn

New General Manager Omar Khan may be an internal hire but he's not bringing the status quo along with his new title. In a panel discussion led by NFL

Having the smallest scouting dept. for a team so heavily reliant on the draft to improve the team seems illogical, he plans on changing that. But a larger staff costs more $, let's see if the Rooney's rubberstamp that move or not. And we seem to lose scouts all the time, supposedly we pay crappy. By how many scouts do we add to the group? By 1, 2, 3? Is there truth to us never sending top brass west of the Mississippi to scout?

Is there a reason our day 3 picks seem like throw-a-way picks much of the time? I know day 3 picks are long shots to begin with but with ours they seem extra unlikely to stick. Like that QB we picked up in the 7th..why?

Day 3 picks at ILB, OLB, P, and OL should make the team and we are weak here.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Glad Khan is going to bring the scouting dept. into the 21st century. Forcing some updated change is good. Probably will have to bring change about incrementally but I love the direction.

We needed freshened up, for sure. I think we will find Colbert was too set in his ways and stodgy to keep up with with today's NFL. There were signs of some lazy picks the last decade or so. I hope Kahn is all about being persistent and aggressive on every draft pick, not just the 1st couple picks or days.

weird hearing all the complaints about the scouting dept when the Steelers are known for their draft success. Sure we have some misses but all teams do.

I have more issues with the way we handle trades or release players for nothing instead of moving them for picks.

The Steelers hit on day 3 picks all the time.

Just off the top of my head, Tre Norwood last year, Conner Heyward and Robinson this year.

I haven't looked it up but I would guess the Steelers have more day 3 success than most.

someone said it and just keeps repeating it trying to make it true. I’m sure we hit on just as many or more day 3’s than the average.

OK, but you listed 3 guys who haven't proved they are real, productive player yet: Norwood, Conner and Robinson. I am personally high on Robinson, but as some near-religiously comment, he's raw and hasn't proven anything yet. Conner? Of course he "made" the team (with the cutsie brother factor involved) but what has he proven? A few catches in the PS but he is the shortest (under 6') and smallest (230LBs) TE, by far, in the NFL. Let's just see how productive he is in real games before we start tooting his horn as "successful." Were we not told how Derek Watt was going to be super productive as a FB in Pgh? Well, color me not impressed. His stat line: 1 rush, 1 yard, 3 rec, 15 yards for 2021. All for the smashing good price of $2.5 million per season. And it's not like he's out there dishing out solid lead blocks either.
