3 overrated Steelers headed into camp

Pittsburgh made some moves to improve their roster in 2022, but these three Steelers are being grossly overrated ahead of the season.

Myles Jack - Statistically not much better than Bush last year. Hopefully can be blamed on chronic knee, hopefully chronic knee heals enough to be less of a hindrance.

Cole - Everyone expecting a big upgrade from Green, but his career says "below average" starter, just not as below as Green, so everyone is expecting a big upgrade.

Harris - Judging by efficiency #s, he's nothing great. But he did rank #1 in creating missed tackles, so that's something. Of course, improved OL play is going to help boost his #s, but we have to wait and see just how improved the OL is, while doing nothing to address below average OT play. It would be hard to be worse in OL play from 2021.

The word on Harris is "solid RB" but not "super star RB." He's not a top 10 RB in this league. He's not a Taylor, nor a Chub, nor a Henry, nor a Cook, nor a Kamara, nor an Aaron Jones, nor a Mixon, nor a Jacobs. But he is usable and serviceable.

That looks like a terrible list. Time will tell on Jack but it will be no time before this dude is proven a fool for his take on Harris.

He didn't say he was terrible, just not a star. Do you think Harris will play in Taylor, Chub or Henry territory? Is he gonna be THAT type of RB?

        horrible list.

as soon as I see Najee Harris' name there it loses all credibility imo.

So you think Harris will be a top 3 RB in 2022? What? Why not? He's a star according to you.

                Jaggi is a hack writer. No substance to his work. Jack overrated? If he is an upgrade over Schobert it's a win. Nobody is claiming he is the next Bobby Wagner. Cole? The Vikes would disagree on that one;

Suddenly, Cole is the Vikings top-graded offensive lineman, scoring a 71.8 per Pro Football Focus grade. And somehow, that tops right tackle Brian O’Neill’s score, which is 70.9 through 11 games. PFF is not without faults, but generally speaking, it serves as a reasonable indicator of player performance. For example, though, not a single Vikings fan around the globe would proclaim Cole a better football player than O’Neill.

The important part? Cole, so far, is outplaying Bradbury. That’s impactful because Bradbury hasn’t quite turned the corner for his career development. Bradbury is not a poor football player — he’s actually rather apt with run blocking — but he has not matched his 1st-Round draft stock with performance on the field

both played in the 34 and neither had a legit NT in front of them... Alualu's health and ability will determine their play this season

First of all, the list was the most overrated players on the team heading into camp. Only a fool would choose to place Najee on such a list. Anyone with an ounce of football acumen can see that he possesses elite skills. He was the number one-rated running back in the country coming out of high school and the number one back picked in the draft. Last year he demonstrated unbelievable power, both in his ability to break tackles and drive piles to get everything he can out of a run. He may not have elite top-end speed but he regularly makes defenders miss and can burst through the smallest of holes with explosion. His durability is evidenced by the NFL-leading 307 carries and zero games missed...and lets not forget that he had ZERO fumbles in the regular season. How about versatility? Dude is a 3-down back who can block and grabbed 74 catches out of the backfield. I think that also led the NFL.

Najee did all that behind a terrible line last year. Every one of us who watched can offer first-hand testimony as to how little room he had to run. Will he outplay or be on par with Henry, Chubb, and Taylor in '22? We'll see. However, his pedigree and performance suggests he will likely be in their class. He has the potential to be the best back in the league. He's by all accounts rocked-up this offseason, and I for one cannot wait to see him unleashed as our primary weapon. If the blocking can improve up front and the passing game is at least competent, then watch out.

YES, he will be a top 3 RB in 2022 and is already a star IMO.
He was 2nd behind only Taylor in all-purpose yards for RBs in 2021. And that was behind the worst Oline in the NFL.

To paraphrase Bum Phillips: He may not be in a class of his own, but it sure don't take long to call role.

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

Per PFF, he's not even rated.
