    Robinson

Is anyone else looking forward to seeing this rookie play? We got over paid sub par staters at the position. This dude can move and hit. I hope he makes the roster, and next year wins a job. Bush's job. He's your classic two down line backer who has the ability to shed blocks and moves well. I hope his coaching is good.

Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

This guy is 100% project. He played 1 year of linebacker in college. His first game ever playing defense he was ejected for helmet to helmet contact. He was playing LB like a running back. While he's certainly an athletic guy, he struggles in coverage and will need time to learn how to play the position. If he makes the practice squad it's a win, but there's a better chance he never plays a down in the NFL than he becomes a starter.

I'm certainly rooting for the guy but unless he's an absolute demon on STs he's not making the 53 this year.

I seriously doubt he can match Bush's ROOKIE FRANCHISE RECORD for tackles. He has admitted last season he was tentative coming back from injury.

I swear people forget how impressive he was all an ALL ROOKIE team pick pre-injury.

Robinson might be a good one but is raw.

Don't sleep on Buddy as well who is VERY athletic very productive in college and reports are he has added a good deal of muscle for stoutness.

I would start with Bush, and only if he struggles early THIS SEASON consider pulling him... for Buddy.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

Don't understand the hate? Yea, he was coming off a torn ACL, but he wasn't just "off" he was downright horrible. He was amongst the lowest rated ILBs in the NFL last year. It wasn't just his knee that was off, it was his entire brain, like he had no interest in even trying.

Your observations confirm he was tentative. Of course we can't have that.

But if his head is right you don't just give up on him prematurely.

Agreed. No help at ILB for the Steelers for this season from this year's draft.

He was indeed horrid. We'll see if he is better this year, but I'd have him on a short leash

I watched some game film on Robinson. He went 225 for a reason. Any coach watching his film sees where his lack of play recognition is causing him to play slower then he should. Really jumps out at you on pass plays. Reading reading and more reading would be a reason he will have to improve in his pass defense before he would see the field. Run D is better but it's not good. Now he may be a quick learner and with better coaching he could ramp it up.
He'll likely need a year. He makes some BIG hits yes he does. However he doesn't break down well and missed a few tackles where he was lined up to make the play but instead lunged late and tackled air. That needs reps. Teachable tech correction he just needs reps.
Couple a few major issues along with the fact he's a 4.64 guy not 4.50 guy and he's under 6' ft will have him on a short leash. He could work out and lets all hope he does but it's going to take some time.
If I get to camp he'll be on the radar and I'll lay it out straight.

The head is the typical second year of an ACL injury. I won't predict that he will come back and become a superstar, but I had no expectation for that return last year. Very few players who return from this injury are able to return to form after it heals in a year. Most still require an extra year to get their head right and still many don't get it back after that.

I think the thing about Robinson that you have to like (beyond his strength and speed) is the fact that he got noticeably better as the season progressed. By all accounts, he looked lost early on and couldn't diagnose plays fast enough. By the end of the year, he was breaking things down and playing much faster. 97 tackles in the SEC ain't nothing to sneeze at.

I agree however, he is a ST-only guy this year, provided he even makes the 53-man roster.

I think likely scenario is he is on the PS and protected every week from being poached. He works with Flores and the rest of the coaches in the hopes that he enters camp in '23 as a potential long term starter.

I don't "hate Bush" and I've made my share of lame and gross-out jokes. OTOH I saw his cat-tossed-from-12- stories-up video. Grotesque, but we get used to grotesque as best we can.

Keeps thinking of the line, " We've got Bush, we've got Bush! " Movie anyone? Would add the link but I'm not sure if its allowed here. The problem is not one of the 31 teams wants " Bush " . He has turned into a liability. I don't know how much Miles Jack will help. We might have to move Fitzpatrick into coverage as a linebacker at times because of the amount of the ILB spot was picked on in coverage. I wanted LB Lloyd in round one badly ( he can play the pass / is long and fast enough ) but we chose Pickett who as a rookie is well beyond Turbisky according to reports.
