Shamelessly owning my incorrect predictions / opinions - 2022 Offseason Edition

It's time again to man up and admit to at least some of the things we've been wrong about.
    1. I thought we'd be 3rd or 4th in the division last season. While we clearly were not great last year, I didn't think we were a playoff team.
    2. I thought Tuitt would play this year. I thought that the team was thinking he would play by waiting for DL until the 4th and Cam's recent comments.
    3. Speaking of Cam...I thought his latest contract was a mistake. Too much money for a guy who was too old. But he's been very good in years 1 and 2. And it starts getting a lot less painful cap wise for him to leave the team after this season.
    4. Related to Tuitt comment above, but I thought we would have a good defense last season. Instead, the run defense was awful...hoping we don't get a repeat of this now that Tuitt is officially gone.

This is what has me shaking my head. Maybe they wanted first rd for DL but we drafted a DL in the 3rd. Its not like we totally ignored the position.

I expect us to grab another body or 2 now that Tuitt has officially retired.

I don't know, I wouldn't be surprised if there is no DL added depending on how they feel about Loudermilk and Leal.

Your man in the middle is back, and while he is aging they are only looking for one last year out of him. He will be backed up by a guy who got starts last year.
They traded for Loudermilk last year and used a second day pick on Leal. They also have a star at DE and another guy who started 14 games last year as a backup.

Pickett in the 1st sounded like a given... So, agreed that Leal on day 2 isn't exactly ignoring the position.

As a side note, I mocked this kid a few times because i thought he was a great fit at DE - time will tell.

we will give you full credit if Leal turns out to be a good NFL player.

and full blame of course, if he doesn't.

The starters on DL (minus superman Heyward) were part of the worst run defense in Steelers history. Adding Alualu back at age 35 doesn't inspire me with a ton of confidence. OK, throw Leal in there as a rook but don't expect much more of him than we saw of Milk last season. Then there is garden slug Davis and Buggs behind them. Yoi.

Since I'm the only one owning up to incorrect predictions / opinions, I'll throw in another one.

I believed the hype that Willis was 1st on our board. Probably because it was the selection I was most afraid that we would make.

Will anyone else admit to getting anything wrong? Hard to tell...this is the internet after all.

This is what is crazy to me. We totally discount guys we have who the coaches work with everyday and totally inflate guys who have never played in the NFL or are other teams. Its like envying someone else's house and seeing everything wrong with your house

Everyone wants to rush out and grab a FA because "they are better than what we have" but aren't they free agents because their last team didn't want them?

I don't think we should rush out to get a UFA. The good players already signed at this point.

But I think we should look at trades and guys that get cut as cap casualties.

I think we do have at least 6 NFL players on the roster at DL...maybe only 2 starters though. Hope Loudermilk has a big jump.

Carrying over the cap space till next season isn't a terrible idea. Especially since we're are probably underdogs for a playoff spot this year
