but it will be a tall task and asking a lot of our head coach, hopefully we can stay injury-free.

I'm not too concerned about what our QBs rank prior to them taking a snap.. I just know what each bring to the table that Ben didnt have the last few years of his career.

Well.. he doesn't have a losing season in the last 15... and our roster is better from top to bottom.
Plus we added flores.. I think we will surprise some people

I will take the over. No way we only win 5 games this year.

            Any takers????
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

we will need to win at least 9 to make the playoffs.

can't go on a deep run without doing that first.

              so 9 or more?

With 7 teams making the playoffs in the AFC, the odds that one of them can get in at 8-9 increases. For years the sixth team in was iffy.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

I think we win between 10 and 12 games, barring injuries at key positions.

Only thing that can hold us back is Tomlins coaching….
Would be cool if he could be put on IR.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

we're only favored in 5 games all year long, 3 of those games by only a single point so it will be dicey.

we're going to need improved QB play and a lot of unknowns to fall our way. hopefully Tomlin can coach us up the way he did the last two seasons with teams that had no business being in the playoffs otherwise.

with teams like Buffalo, KC, the Chargers, Broncos, Bengals, Browns, Ravens, Raiders, Dolphins, and Patriots* in the AFC I'm pretty sure 9 wins will be required to make the playoffs.

                            I hope you are right.

I'll be at 7 to 9 or so... At least until we see what they look like on the field.

Vegas gets it right more than you know. When Roethlisberger returned for the 2020 season Vegas immediately changed their W/L line +4.5 from an 8-8 2019 season.

Trying to exceed and overachieve against a brutal schedule rarely happens (3 out of 10 in 2021) and likewise, winning against an easy schedule and overachieving compared to expectation was quite regular (only 3 out of 10 did not).
                              • Of the 10 NFL teams that actually had the hardest 2021 schedules, only 3 went over their projected win total: Cardinals, Steelers, Raiders
                              • Of the 10 NFL teams that actually had the easiest 2021 schedules, only 3 went under their projected win total: Bills, Broncos, Browns
                              • The Steelers have the 4th toughest schedule in the league in 2022 based on Vegas lines
                              • They are starting a new QB and a sophomore OC
                              • New starting secondary pieces are a big unknown
                              • Revamped OL with ?s on quality
                              • ILB and DL are ?s

The Steelers averaged 20 pts/gm last season. This was the lowest by a wide margin for any of the playoff teams. If they can't score more this season I don't think it's going to end with a postseason run. The Steelers are probably another draft and off-season away from being a contender.

One other comment on Vegas lines. What do you think those lines are based on? Answer; the betting public. And the betting public = tens of thousands of people that are followers of their teams, have detailed knowledge of their teams strengths and weaknesses, and also have a sense of other teams strengths/weaknesses to some degree (like guys that post here). The line is not some football guru sitting in a dark room making stuff up.
