He's 5'11, and not a TE or an RB. Let's say he is a good fullback ( that remins to be seen ) he's going to seldom see the field. With his lack of speed I don't see him adding much to special teams either. Just why waste a pick? There are plenty of rookie Fullback free agents. I think a S or OL player would make a better pick.

Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.
Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

He's probably the Kalen Ballage replacement as far as the roster spot goes. Competent runner, competent receiver, competent STer. Not a bad guy to have at the bottom of your RB depth chart in theory.
I suppose they could cut Derek Watt but I'd be surprised.Comment

I assume the Steelers drafted him because of his versatility at the collegiate level. Only time will tell what position he will play at the professional level.Comment

I was expecting a slow FB who just blocked and was a stiff.
His highlight reel showed some power and get up. Dude is not afraid of contact.. lolSteelers 27
