The Chargers let Brees go after his 5th year and replaced him with Rivers.

Brees started to show potential by about his 4th or 5th year, but the Chargers were not convinced he was the guy at that point. Knowing how he turned out, I’m not sure they would make the same decision again.

But that was before all the media coverage we have today and the complete lack of patience within fan bases.

Well, they had already drafted Rivers a year before that.

The other factor at the time was that Brees had that shoulder injury. He failed a physical with Miami when he was slated to go there. It wasn't clear how he was going to come out of that injury at the time. That's when Miami went with Culpepper.

Even if you flip that game, Burrow would only be 6-7 instead of 5-8 vs. the North. He's beating up on the rest of the league, not the AFC North.
