    Any TEs in This Draft?

I'm not a huge fan of any of the TEs in this draft, but have been digging in and doing some more research.

I like our depth at the position, however, with the recent run up in WR salaries, you've gotta wonder if it makes more sense to try and run your base O with 2 TEs even if one is a glorified WR given the relative cost of signing a TE for the long term.

Any TEs that you like that could add value to our receiving game?

It's a good for draft for TEs, but I don't think we will select one. We have too many other needs. The stable of PF, Gentry (who came on good last year), and Radar will be fine.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

I think that argument is a good reason to draft receivers. There is tremendous relative value in a great college receiver on a rookie contract vs. a second contract receiver in a market set by Christian Kirk.

Next position to sky rocket will be CBs, to cover those expensive WRs.

Reading where Deebo Samuels want to be the highest paid non-QB in the league. Must have been talking to LBell.... you know, the original wideback.

Ahead of which area of need? DE? DT? OL? WR? S? QB? ILB? #2RB? CB? Once all those areas are taken care of, yea, draft a TE.

Im just looking for the best players we can find. We probably agree, OLB isn’t a priority, but what if a guy like Thibodeaux drops to 20 for some reason? You would have to take him ahead of just about everyone else likely on the board, no?

I know he won’t drop, but just an example. Just curious if there’s a great TE out there that’s really a WR. If you found a Gronk, you’d take him even though you don’t need him and you’d put him and Pat on the field 90% of the time just because.

On topic of the thread, it would be nice to have an undersized, speedy, pass-catching TE to compliment the other TE in the stable.

In this draft, Tre McBride's the guy, but he's the top TE in the class and will cost a 2nd rounder. I would guess he'd be a round lower in a typical TE class. But I can't see spending a 2nd on TE
Isaiah Likely, who should be maybe a 3rd-4th rounder is probably a better get

I might need Shawn on this one, but everything I read on Ruckert sounds like an impressive #2 Steelers TE... I'll summarize as gritty with really good hands...

I get your point; if insane value dropped, even out of one of our areas of need, you'd have to consider it. But I just don't see it in this case. DL (end and NT), OT, QB, WR, S, CB, OLB...a few of those areas of need are going to go unaddressed as is.

I like our TEs. Obviously Muth is legit...
But theres something to be said about Gentry as well...

I really like our TEs and that's why I didn't bother even looking at the TEs earlier. But if there's a Gronk or Kelce out there, we don't have that and that guy is an upgrade to everyone and you can put him on the field for nearly 100% of the plays.

The trouble is our OC has no creativity and we're drafting guys to fit HIS system. I'd feel more comfortable doing that on the other side of the ball.

Having said all that, Thibedeaux is a fantastic example - I think there are some positions you simply won't touch because the starters are young, locked in and pro-bowl caliber. The team spent a lot of years passing on QBs because that was Ben's job.

If you asked me to rank from least likely to most likely as a 1st rounder, (skipping kickers, etc), OLB is very near the top of VERY unlikely. As are RB, TE (all 3 due to talent available vs what's presently on the roster).

Now, at positions of need? (Which I see in no particular order: SS, CB, DE, NT, WR, QB, ILB, OT) Any and all of these positions are in play all draft long. Fortunately for the team, there are so many positions, they should NOT have to reach. You can find a very good DE for the 34 on day 2 (see: Tuitt). Same is true with strong side ILB

TE class is weak. Probably why they grabbed Muth when they could. Nobody worth a 1st rd and really not even a 2nd rd pick. Better talent at other positions.
