    Geriatric Ben

Ben turned 40 today. Damn, he’s officially old AF now.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

Ben is a middle age rich man with plenty of life ahead of him as long as he remains healthy.

I always feel so old when I hear people in their 20s or 30s are washed up and retiring.

Gets even weirder when people younger than me get recognized in the HOF for lifetime achievement.

I realized I was old when I was watching the kids of players I watched growing up play in the pros.

me: maybe he started having kids when he was a teenager or something.

Also me: that's about the TENTH player who woulda had to be like a 14 year old parent for me to not feel old... maybe it's something else

This is better for us Flip.

It means we've still got room before the top of the mountain.

Imagine people thinking that you've already done everything you're going to do when you're 30.

They talk about people like astronauts getting depressed after they get back from space because they already did the thing that they trained their whole lives for.

I think athletes must be kind of the same when they have that singular focus (and I think it's hard to be a pro-athlete without that singular focus).

I know some professors feel this way after getting tenure too. You do so much to get to that point, then kind of feel empty when you get there.
