What started the Tomlin VA player conspiracy?

    Was it Worilds or Edmunds?

because I don’t see any other players from VA that we drafted since Tomlin arrived.

and of course everyone forgets Colbert is also our GM.

I think perhaps it was the signing of Vick and the return of Plexico. To be honest I don't read a lot about it other than 1 or 2 posts every now and then.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

Are you hinting that Tyrod Taylor will be our next starting QB?
Obviously the standard is the standard.

Could be.. lol. Look at the QB’s who have taken over for Tyrod in his last 3 stops

        Buffalo
        Cleveland
        LA Chargers

Where Tyrod goes, franchise QB’s follow.

Maybe it the colleges in the VA/MD area? Although I can only think of a couple more from schools in the area.

Off the top of my head, I'd probably guess we pick players from MI schools more often, but I could be wrong?

I was thinking MI schools might be a possibility because we picked 3 guys from MI schools a few years back with Bush, Gentry, and Layne. I also remember Woodley, AB, and Bell were some pretty good players from MI schools. There must be some more and I'm guessing it's more than the VA/MD region.

But maybe we also need to think about UDFAs and FAs?

I think early on Tomlin/ Colbert drafted their share of players from Ohio State.

I bet if someone looked hard enough there would be a breakdown of players/ colleges the Steelers have drafted from on the internet.

Michigan is definitely at the top.

but there are so many other schools we have drafted multiple players from so its hilarious to see the VA conspiracy get so much traction over the years. I think its simply due to people hating the Edmunds
pick and needing a reason for it.

One thing I noticed though, we rarely pick west coast colleges. Not sure if its due to proximity but we are mostly Eastern, SE and Midwest.

There you have the link below, Ohio State sits at the top. First Virginia college mentioned is a tie for 8th place.

                This myth is "BUSTED"

The 2020 NFL Draft is coming up for the Pittsburgh Steelers (https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/) and Kevin Colbert is surely busy making lists and checking them twice. Because scouting has been reduced due to Covid-19, Colbert and company may rely on wells that he’s gone to multiple times before.

In 2019, Colbert found comfort in drafting two players that donned the maize and blue of the University of Michigan (Devin Bush Jr. and Zach Gentry). In 2018, two Cowboys (https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/) from Oklahoma State (Mason Rudolph and James Washington) were selected by the Steelers. Over the past two In both drafts, an Alabama defensive lineman (Josh Frazier and Isaiah Biggs) arrived on Day 3.

When they selected multiple guys from the same school, it made me wonder what schools the Steelers have selected from the most in their history since the first draft in 1936. In the early days of the draft, the Steelers stayed close to home with a lot of their picks. They also had drafts of 30 players a yearfor most of the 1940s, which they tended towards taking players from the local likes of Duquesne, Carnegie Mellon and Penn. Notre Dame was the dominant school of the time and they supplied many a player too. Some schools had picks in which the majority came from the first three decades of the draft. I will note that when I rank the top ten feeder schools of all time for the Steelers and the team's top 10 of the Kevin Colbert era.

Hadn't really thought of that, but I can't think of any off the top of my head from west of TX/OK outside of Juju.

Wasn't there a LB from UCLA? Could have been a UDFA. Can't remember.

I was going to say Georgia but I see it's listed as tied for 3rd. Georgia players being drafted by the Steelers goes beyond the Tomlin years, Andre Hastings and Hines Ward both from there. I wouldn't be surprised to see that DL from there drafted by the Steelers.

I think the list goes all the way back to 1936. I'm not sure how to properly post the link.

This list is a bit dated, I don't think it includes the last (2) drafts. It does however bust the "Virginia" myth of drafting players.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:
