I stopped buying gear about 4 years ago. I’ve enough Steeler hats & shirts. I don’t wear any particular player. If I did it would be Mel Blount.
Do you spend more/less/same

You got it all wrong dude. I could care less the player name as long as it says "Steelers".
Get em ON THE CHEAP on clearance my friend. Watt??? No thanks, it is like his deal....TOP DOLLAR.
Rockin a Barry Foster after he flamed out.
Best find? Got me a sweet "Jim Miller" at Ross' for PENNIES back in the day. That's the way I roll.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Steelers addiction is pretty close to the same it’s always been for me.
But the spending definitely changes and it’s more a fact that life changes.
Not living close to Pittsburgh makes a game a Heinz a rarity. Plus any time I visit, we’ve got so many people to see it’s hard to get away and do stuff in the city that we enjoy for us. We’ve joked we need to sneak into town and not tell anyone we’re there. There’s 100s of things I want to do in Pittsburgh but just don’t have the time.
We’re now more likely to make a road game. Plus there’s a lot of cities with much more fan friendly weather for games. Not a fan of cold or snow as each year passes. Some of my best memories of games in Pittsburgh were snowy, cold, blistering messes outside. I wouldn’t be interested in free tix to a cold weather game anymore. Maybe depending on circumstance, but I’d rather watch at home, with friends, or at a bar where it’s warm.
Also as I get older, I have too much gear. Just due to lack of space, I don’t have the room to buy and collect as much as I used to.
I’m more likely to buy a new Pirates hat because they just look better. I’m also more likely to buy something I see in person and get a good deal. I just don’t see a lot available outside of Pittsburgh.
I know you can get anything online. But I’m not a shopper/browser. So now I mostly get what people give me.sigpicComment

After my wife took me to the Hall of Fame to see the game and see Troy get in, I'm not asking for jersey money this year lol
Wife did order herself a Boswell jersey last week. (She said he always comes through and no one buys his jersey so I'm getting one) lmaoComment

My son and I had done a Steeler trip every year between 2014 and 2019. Mostly in Pittsburgh but sometimes on the road. The problem is that being a Steelers fan, tickets are expensive anywhere you go. Went to a game in Buffalo one year (the only game that was a day trip) and paid about $150 a ticket. The Browns were playing there a couple of weeks later and could have had those same seats for $20.Comment

I have way more money now than I did 10-25 years ago when I was going to games and buying merchandise.Way less.
Back in the early 90's thru the 2000's My buddies and I would go to as many as 5 regular season games a year and any playoffs. I remember going to see Jim Kelly and the Bills always beating up on us.
I got married and had kids, and went to less games with my buddies, but then took the wife, oldest daughter, and now my son. We just went to the Ravens Steelers home game, and we sort of said our goodbyes and thank yous to Ben during that one.
Now that Heinz is cashless, I spend less than ever before. And turnpike prices are more and more.
It's one thing being in my 20's and single and then 30's and married, and now I'm 53.... Still have a blast going, but from here on out probably 1 per year. I would like to start travelling to some away games.... Like ones in Florida. lol
I’m not sure if I just outgrew it, or the overall cost, or the product on the field, coaching, politics, or the nfl in general, or the ‘get off my lawn’ attitude I’m starting to develop as I get older, I just won’t spend a dime on any of it anymore.
It’s probably a combination of all of it.
Fun when I did it, but glad I don’t do it anymore. How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?Comment

For me its the opposite. I have way more money now and I have 3 friends I grew up with from the Burgh. So now that we are making good money we started doing 1 game a year.I have way more money now than I did 10-25 years ago when I was going to games and buying merchandise.

This next season they finally play in Carolina during the regular season so I’m going. Also have family in Atlanta so might make that trip as well.
I think they also play in Miami soooooo… lol.
For me it basically comes down to disposable income. When I was broke the last thing on my mind was a jersey or a game.Steelers 27

This is pretty much what my brother went through.I have way more money now than I did 10-25 years ago when I was going to games and buying merchandise.

Was a huge KC fan when we were growing up. But then when he got a "real job" and a family his interest in football just kind of died.
Too bad too, because he went through all the heartache of KC losses (like the no punt game vs. Indy), but hasn't really enjoyed the great team they are now.
Glad that Ben's prime lined up with the time in my adult life where I had the least personal responsibility.Comment

I've never been a jersey guy as an adult so I don't own any. I'd say I don't really buy a lot of gear as it's not as if I'm outgrowing it. A t-shirt can last a long time and I have at least 5 baseball hats and don't expect to need any new ones for many years. I do have an ever growing son who needs new Steeler's gear every year. He loves his "Say Watt" t-shirt and wears it all the time. He has a Juju t-shirt as well.sigpicComment
