What combination of TWO of our current receivers leaves you void of a number 2 if you DRAFT a "true number one stud"?
I thought you meant it could be anyone, not the guys we have.

Chase would still probably be the odd man out - the other two care about the game and work on their craft, CC doesn't appear to be cut from the same cloth. Tries to get by on athleticism.

Not only whether or not to re-sign Ju Ju, but how big a contract. I don't think that it is another one year deal, but he is coming off of an injury so he might not be able to ask for as much as he tried to get last year.

Next season we have one more season of tape on DJ. If he progresses as a receiver, and with limiting the drops, he could be the big ticket receiver. If not then the team will have to decide if the breakaway talent is worth the occasional drops.

After that, Claypool will have two more years under his belt. If he learns and matures his game then he could become a top receiver. If he stays where he is then an easy non-signing. Again, a decision that I'm happy is two years away.

          Good post.

DJ and JuJu are proven, no doubt you keep them.

Claypool has 2 years to prove himself, but his needle is trending upward. Seems like the in game assoholic tendencies have stoped. He needs to dedicate himself this off-season on his craft. Similar to what DJ did. And stay out of the bar room brawls.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

i'll be a little surprised if juju sign a long term deal with us.

if he does, clay is still 2-3 years away from becoming a UFA. we shouldknow by then if he's a must sign.
if he ever gets proper coaching, he could turn out to be a #1

              Or

              Juju and Chase.

Chase is cheap for a while. And I don't think we give market level contracts for both DJ and JuJu.

Although Juju might have to settle for a cheap contract after the last few seasons.

I know folks are down on Claypool because of the immaturity and antics but this dude is going to catch fire in a system with a competent OC...where the QB can stretch the field vertically (all of the field).
Then we will see the 200 page thread on here about how it was stupid to let CC go... with the current haters either disappearing.. or trying to change the subject.

This right here. It's all on him at this point. Hopefully he changes my mind and has a good offseason.

Looks like it's not just me that disagrees with you but the majority in this thread about Claypool.

Diontae Johnson types are fairly common in this league.. most teams have at least one. It's a little harder to find 6-4 230+lb freaks that can run like claypool.

Haters gonna blame TOMLIN for not "developing" him, rather than giving us time to develop him.
That is why they got no problem dumping him prematurely.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

                            TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

I don't blame Tomlin. Juju and DJ work overtime on their craft and are on the details. CC needs to learn from them.

DJ isnt "There" yet. Hes still prone to drops and doesnt take care of the football when he does catch it.
