that's always my problem when some people use them to prove a point... they are a good supporting arument, but not the whole argument.

If we go to threads from last year, isn't that kind of what we were saying when he didn't get the PFF award then?

Although I think the gap between them was smaller last year.

Yeah, they like to come off because they use obscure stats that the "common folk" don't know. They just over do it sometimes.

Sometimes the obvious IS the right answer.

AP is far more like us "uneducated" masses.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

Agreed. With Parsons a distant second. I'm glad the talk on Diggs has died down. Supposedly he has had an absolutely horrible season with the receivers he covers putting up huge numbers, he keeps being targeted.

All I know is the AP gap was 20-27 last year. And Watt got WAY LESS media attention last season than he is getting for having a historic seasons.

Watt is getting bukku press. Not mostly Steeler press, NATIONAL MEDIA PRESS.

            AP is NATIONAL MEDIA.

I am not worried at all.

The DMVP is a lock. Watt should be transcending the DMVP conversation at this point and should be in the conversation for league MVP.

And I think there’s a non homer case for him to be made.

if watt doen't win it this year, then what will he actually have to do to get the award

I agree, i think watt wins relatively easy this year

Correct. While unlikely, I will suggest he gets more votes for league MVP than we typically see.
If we were a top seed wins wise I would imagine he'd have a chance.

Sports Illustrated Defensive Player of the Year

                      1. T.J. Watt: 29 points (5 firsts, 1 second)
                      2. Micah Parsons: 19 points (1 first, 2 seconds, 1 third, 1 fourth, 1 fifth)
                      3. Aaron Donald: 18 points (2 seconds, 3 thirds, 1 fifth)
                      4. Myles Garrett: 14 points (1 second, 1 third, 3 fourths)
                      5. Darius Leonard: 5 points (2 fourths, 1 fifth)
                      6. De’Vondre Campbell: 3 points (1 third)
                      7. Trevon Diggs: 2 points (2 fifths)

Watt got all but one 1st place vote.
Less prestigious than AP but THIS is the kind of voter that is found in AP.

A DPOY candidate and 1st team all pro in 2021 with another 2 time 1st team all pro in 2019 and 2020 and the defense ranked 19 th in yards and 23rd in points

bufffalo has their pair of safety's on the all pro team this year (one is 1st team, the other 2nd team) they finished #1 in defense in both yards and total points

I guess coaching does matter ?

Or maybe there are 11 guys on the defense?

Who has the better coach, Buffalo or NE?

why does the team in Pittsburgh need everyone to be a top pick to be a successful unit.

Take a look at Buffalo defensive line up.
Which defense has more pedigree and talent on it?

Not sure. But both are better then the head coach of Steelers

Mcdermott worked his way up and was DC for several years.
didn’t need a Quota rule to advance as head coach

Probably pretty similar since both units have 7 first round picks.
