    Could We Starr Rudolf?

1st let me say, I’m not a believer in MR. However, we know Ben doesn’t start playing until the 4th Q.

So why. It change things up. See how MR can do during the 1st 3 Qs. The bring in Ben to clean up in the 4th.

I know this sounds stupid. But if we really want to surprise the Chiefs and change things up, MR trotting out on the 1st series would be a shocker.

Maybe MR could extend a drive or 2 with his legs. Or buy the WRs and TEs some time to get open down the field vs the 2 sec release.

What logical reason could there be for the 4th qtr stats being so good. There are only 2 reasons. One, Ben or Canada figure out the defense as the game goes on and make adjustments. Two, Ben takes over and calls everything on the fly.

During the last drive for the FG in OT Sunday, one of the announcers said Ben took a timeout because he was talking to each receiver individually and just ran out of time. I believe it's reason 2 and Ben takes over.

I think we believe that throwing too much (particularly over the middle) is dangerous and would lead to too many turnovers.

So we play ultra conservative for the majority of the game and rely on / pray that the D can keep it close.

Then we open up the O a bit at the end of the game.

That way we limit the dangerous reps and hope that the small sample size leads to a good outcome.

It's kind of the modern day version of how Cowher used Ben.

Agreed. In fact, I've suggested they need to just drop random no-huddle series throughout the game and see how that works out. Even Todd Haley was smart enough to figure out that it made him look better when he let Ben be Ben...

Id do it the whole game.

Would be interested to know how his passing numbers compare in Q4 vs Q1-3.

6 of 9 wins are 4th Q comebacks this season. So he’s being effective in spots despite having his worst QBR ever of 35.8 and the 3rd worst YPA in the NFL, barely edging out Zack Wilson and Trevor Lawrence.

All of that is insane cause Ben still has the clutch gene.

At home I think this would be much easier / more successful than in Arrowhead in the playoffs.

Not sure how much no huddle we'll be able to run in what will likely be a very loud and hostile stadium.

I don't think we'll see Steelers fans take over this stadium like we have so many others.

If you want to do something to throw off the Chiefs like this then I would rather bring in Haskins, and play him the way the Raiders work Mariota or the Saints used to do with Hill. Give the Chiefs something that they weren't expecting that is greatly different than what they planned for. Rudolph just gives you a different QB with a similar style.

No, In Ben we trust. MR will get his chance next season.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

On the road in a playoff game in KC start Rudolph? Well it would surprise the Chiefs I guess, would surprise everyone. I'd be up for some trick plays using different QB's maybe. I just want to see different looks and plays at this point, just a different approach. How about 3 flea flickers? The first time Chiefs probably won't be fooled, second time maybe, third time they gotta be thinking no way they are doing it a third time and BOOM Ben hits a deep one scoreboard, Reid poops his pants, game over.

yeah.. no way Ben is going to let anyone take meaningful snaps as long as he can walk.

When I read the title, I thought you might be talking about Rudolph channeling Bart Starr. I'd be all for that.

I think we went through this in another thread. His 4th qtr numbers are deceiving because defenses back off with the big leads they have. Pretty much what the Steelers defense does in rare games with a big lead.
