He just never believed the game was over until it was actually over, I wish someone would talk him into one more season in similar fashion to what he did to Jerome. He actually deserves an entire year of everyone (including opponents) knowing its over rather than just these 2 games. He deserves a league wide sendoff, imo. Monday and the following Sunday (and, hopefully, longer) will be bittersweet to be sure.

Agree 100%..... I have been a lifelong Steeler fan but never has it been more exciting for me than the last 18 years..... not sure if it nostalgia or what, but when I think of my personal all time favorite Steelers all most all of them are Defensive players but now that we are at the end think ole #7 has taken the throne for me..... Never miss that water until well runs dry.....

If we are fortunate (Doubtful) like GB's Favre to Rodgers, Montana to Young and follow up with another Stud QB, I still cant imagine that person topping what Ben has done.....

Well said. Ben has been the face of the franchise and he’s always delivered.

I really hope we don’t through a revolving door of QBs like we did between Bradshaw to Ben. That was often painful.

        I hope so too...

The hope is that the folks in the front office remember or take note of the lengthy dry spell of the 80's, and not have that silly a$$ hubris that both Colbert and Tomlin have about taking a diamond in the rough at discount prices and make em a polished gem.

I will admit it may be a bit unfair to Colbert since he drafted a hall of famer during his tenure (and perhaps that one pick is enough), but his track record of selecting backups has not been stellar. There are some areas of talent eval that has been lacking in this brain trust (think CB as an example).

Note Parenthesis denotes if still in the league

        2000
Pick 5.163 – Tee Martin, QB, Tennessee (No)

        2003
Pick 5.163 – Brian St. Pierre, QB, Boston College (No)

        2004
Pick 1.11 – Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Miami (OH) (Yes)

        2006
Pick 5.164 – Omar Jacobs, QB, Bowling Green (No)

        2017
Pick 4.135 – Joshua Dobbs, QB, Tennessee (Yes)

        2018
Pick 3.76 – Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State (Yes)

To be fair it is the least drafted postion - I just look at the blecch he drafted in the 5th rounds and I am suspect.

Best Steelers Pick: Ben Roethlisberger in 2014
Worst Steelers Pick: Jarvis Jones in 2003
Steelers Most Drafted Position Group: OL (24 picks)
Steelers Least Drafted Position Group (Excluding FB and K/P): QB (8 picks)

I might go with Artie Burns as the worst draft pick. 100% useless bust.

Huey Richardson 1991 first round pick. Traded for a 7th round pick after 1 season.

I'll do you one better. Kid I went to high school with, Pick #1b, 1989, Tom Ricketts. Never made it to the regular season.

I am totally on board with one more ride for Ben. It appears to be a terrible year for drafting quarterbacks and the only potential free agent I might be interested in is Deshaun Watson. Let's see how it unfolds.

                      nooooooo.

I would have a hard time if we gave Ben one more year. Its time to move on. Dude is a shell of himself and doesn’t look like he has another year in him.

Jermain Stephens but he was not a Colbert pick.

I disagree. He's got a 90.2 QB rating this season, playing behind one of the worst lines in team history. He may not have the mobility he once possessed, but I see no significant regression in the rest of his game. A "shell of himself" is being overly harsh, in my opinion. I'm also not seeing a whole lot of better options out there.

I would imagine this is not a popular opinion, so I definitely can't throw rocks at anyone who disagrees. I'm all-in, however.

He's a shell of himself. that 90.2 rating means nothing with all the short passes makes his completion % higher . He's immobile & he can't throw long with velocity. He's noodle arm. When's the last time he threw a ball deep to a WR over the entire defense for a TD. Not a lollipop down the sideline that Clayworth has to fight off a DB for. A 60 yard bomb over the entire defense? He can't do it.

The short passes may help his completion percentage, but Average Yards Per Attempt is also factored into the QB rating. and he's still at 90.2. Imagine if he was running an offense or enjoyed the type of protection that allowed him to target more intermediate and deep routes.

Like I said, I can't throw rocks at anyone who disagrees, but I will definitely disagree about his arm strength. You obviously have a short memory or didn't see Ben operate this offense late in games this season...when he is making the majority of the play calls. That pass he made to Freiermuth that was knocked away by the Viking safety on the last play of the game was one of the best throws of his career. He's had plenty of other on-target deep balls as well. "Noodle arm" is a ridiculous narrative that has been tossed about by the national media.
