    We miss Hilton and Nelson

Yeah.. water under the bridge but dammit, we need to stop letting these younger guys go because they want job security.

Haden is better than Nelson when he is healthy.. but Haden is long in the tooth and without him our secondary is much worse than last year IMO.

I think the guy we miss more is Tuitt .

pressure is and always will be the key to good secondary play and Tuitt in 2020 produced a lot of pressure 11.0 sacks and 25 quarterback hits ranked eighth and tied for eighth in the League, respectively
@dwinsgames on twitter .... Kenny Pickett is who I thought he was ....

Yes, we miss Hilton and Nelson

We also desperately miss Tuitt and Alualu ... Colbert & Co. ought to get some heat for not having suitable depth/replacements at those positions

Agreed, but I was speaking of healthy players we moved on from not those out due to injury.

We miss Aluolu (sp) as well.

also could’ve used Ingram these last few games as an inside LB to replace Bush.

The defense has given up 586 yards rushing in the past 3 games. Not sure how much a couple of half-decent CB’s would have helped out with stopping the run.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

actually Buggs / Davis were supposed to be that backup duo , Davis went to IR and Buggs didnt play a snap yesterday that I recall for whatever reason ? ( injury ?? )

AluAlu was a big loss no doubt but no way you could predict he and your top backup to go to IR , not defending Colbert so to speak but just trying to be reasonable

wouldn't mind having a few more "hostages" at positions of need

Alualu was the only real NT on the roster going into the season. Inexcusable to not have a better backup plan. Buggs and Davis are not NTs (really not that good at any DL position). You might slide them to NT for a play or two, but you know they're not going to hold up very long or very well at nose.

Yep - depth is a very big issue on defense.

                  Alualu
                  A healthy Watt
                  Haden
                  Tuitt
                  Hilton
                  Nelson
                  Ingram
                  A Bush that isn't lost

In the not so distant past, we had all these pieces and the makings of an outstanding defense.

I didn't like letting Nelson go. We didn't need to and could have let him play out his contract.

It probably would have meant giving Nelson the same treatment as we gave Juju. So Nelson would have had to agree to take the same money but push some of the cap hit into a voided year. But I can't see him not doing that since he was released into the bottom of the market when teams that needed CBs already had them signed. I haven't really been watching any Philly games, but he's started every game for them has 1 pick, 6 passes defended, 26 solo tackles and 15 assists.

Maybe we could have extended Nelson too, but it sounds like he maybe wanted more $$$ than we wanted to pay him.

Some of us at the time also said we could have cut Haden instead. Sounds like it would have hurt the locker room to lose a leader though. Haden's started and played in 8 games for us, no picks, 5 PDs, 15 solo tackles and 9 assists.

I would have made every effort to keep Hilton. I could see he was valuable, the ghost in the machine.

Losing Alualu and Tuiitt is really hurting.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

Nelson hasn't played well for the Eagles, he's not a loss considering what we were paying him.

yup.. but Cap and a few others said Nelson was awful last year and trusted Cam Sutton and company.

I like Sutton but the company around him is a bit suspect and too green.

I doubt Nelson takes a deal like JuJu nor should he? Look at JuJu right now on his 1 year deal.

Remember when I brought up Watts contract? Nelson is a player who I believe was impacted by the Watt contract. Maybe we work out a deal with Nelson if the Watt contract wasn’t so insane.

doesn’t matter what he is doing somewhere else. Would he be a better fit than what we have right now?

Is Sutton and Nelson better than Sutton and Pierre?

and if we extended him his cap hit would probably be lower than what he would’ve made last year.. and he said he was never even approached about a restructure.

I would have preferred to keep Hilton over Nelson.
