I think he knew the question was coming and answered the way he did to make sure nobody would ask it again. Wouldn't be surprised if someone was told to ask it.

that’s like asking a man if he is thinking about his ex or a new chick while he is sitting with his wife.

Childish???? How so? He answered with passion. What we seen in that moment is the reason hundreds of players either have or would love to play for him. Most of his new conferences are well-delivered- but cookie-cutter in nature. But THAT moment was from the soul.

I thought it was a fairly tame and typical response from Tomlin. If I’m reading into his words a little, he’s just confirmed he plans to continue coaching the Steelers in the post Ben era.

            That’s the story here.

I liked the response. A lot. Maybe a little over the top but it was an extremely clear message. I'm sure the Rooney's loved it. It showed that Tomlin is still incredibly committed to, proud of and thankful for coaching the Steelers as the "best job in the world".

I would love to see what kind of answers Tomlin would give if he ever went into politics! Especially as the President. I would pay large dollars to see him debate Trump! LOL

being asked about entertaining another job while at your job is messed up.

I know it happens to other coaches but its usually when they are on the hot seat or they just came from college and are struggling in the pros.

I heard Matt Rhule and Urban Meyer’s name come up when this first started and I thought it was lazy journalism at the time.

These guys just got to the NFL and are already being asked about going back to college?

                  THIS.
I don't even know that he was genuinely offended as if it was a demotion. Even though it looks that way.

Does anyone REALLY expect him to say, of course I'd leave if the price is right for the Rooneys to see?

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

                  TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

The first time I heard Biden’s red headed lady that talks to the press answer questions, I thought she reminded me of Tomlin.

Then I found out they went to the same college.

They must have had a class that prepared them to deal with reporters.

I’m not really into politics and that red head lady might be nothing like Tomlin, but at least the one time I saw her, there were similarities.

If it’s a pinnacle job, his answer isn’t childish. He has enough on his plate without answering weekly questions about college jobs. Tomlin shot those rumors down once and for all. He handled it perfectly IMO.

If the Steelers job is the pinnacle how can his response be childish?

                        The question was childish.

USC is a has been.. its like Texas or Nebraska these days. No one is willingly leaving the Steelers or Cowboys to coach USC.

oh.. he was offended. That last line about Reid and Payton said it all.

No other 15 year HC is being asked about college gigs during their weekly press
conference. That is question you ask when a coach is 1-15 not 3-3 during their 15th season at a storied franchise.

Amazing how the sports world respects and admires Tomlin. He is wanted for premier jobs. Yet we have idiots on this board who want him to leave.

Thank God the Rooney's don't care what deluded fans want
"My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"
