    Rumors: Trading Ingram?

    Would you trade Ingram?

If so, what is the lowest you take for him?

Personally, I think I would certainly do this for a 4th and maybe for a 5th. I don't think we'll be competitive this year and we don't have many picks next year.

The smart money is always on betting against a trade in the NFL though...so I don't think it will happen.

If we trade Ingram, it indicates we're giving up on this season, IMO. What depth do we have at OLB without him?

What if we trade him for a QB?

I assume you're thinking of a QB who could step in and be a decent starter? I don't think we'll get one of those for Ingram.

The Steelers have never given up on a season when they are still in the hunt and even a loss this weekend wouldn't end their chances. The Steelers don't lose games to enhance their draft position and they don't tank a season by trading good players in which they are competitive for a playoff spot. If the Packers want to trade Rodgers (I jest) for Ingram, then, yeah, go ahead make the trade but unless the player they get in return helps them win more games, Ingram will be a Steeler this year. Geesh.

Agree. Between double teams on Watt and Heyward (sometimes triple) someone else needs to pick up their game. Ingram has had flashes but Highsmith has been quiet for the most part. I don't know if he's been hurt or what but I expected more from him this season. (It doesn't help with Alualu out and Wormly and other JAGS trying to apply pressure.

They are competitive this year. Anything can happen in this league as long as a team isn't eliminated.

I agree that it's an indication to the rest of the team that management has given up on the season. So there will be no trade. Even thou it may be the smart move long term.

Didnt Highsmith have 1.5 sacks last week?

Also thought he was dinged up earlier in the year.

IMO its wag too early to think any move is giving up on the season. If we traded Ingram and acquired an OL or DL with the move it could be viewed as a net positive.

I doubt he is on the block but why would any move at 3-3 be viewed as giving up? That isn’t how we operate.

                      He's certainly a bright spot.

But I don't think he'll be back next year (at least not under contract now as it voids 5 days after the SB IIRC).

So trading him for something is probably a good idea if you believe we're not going to be competitive.

If you think we've got a shot at making the playoffs and doing some damage, trading him would be foolish.

I don't think the Steelers will trade him unless they get a very strong deal. But I do think they should be listening. And I bet my floor price is lower than what theirs would be.

I wonder if the game this weekend will have an impact on a decision like this. I think being 1-1 in the north and 3rd in a tight division is a lot better than being 0-2 and 4th.

NFL trade deadline is Nov 2 (essentially right after this game).

It's nice to be cheering on a team that does not understand the idea of mid-season trading away players because there is no hope. The NFL is a tough league for in-season trading because of how early the deadline is. The Steelers have only one more game before the deadline. The Steelers play in a division in which the consensus bottom team has already beaten the Steelers and just humiliated the supposed front runner. I don't think that right now I'm prepared to be a seller. If someone came and knocked your socks off with a deal then I would want to consider it, but to trade a player who contributes positively for maybe a 5th rounder, I'm out.
