If your argument is that we would have been better with Russ Grimm, I think your argument is very, very bad.
yes, and i realize now I was blinded by steeler homerism. like you guys are now.

was grimm the only other candidate?

wait, you weren't on the trib board before here? when that board ended, a lot of members came here. how did you find out about this place if you weren't on the trib board?
that board had a lot of posters criticizing cowher. you weren't one of them?
you've criticized him on here while trying to pump up tomlin/

looks like you're trying to 'cover up' from my question.

            Nope.

I joined the trib board when Tomlin was announced and there were tons of racist garbage being thrown at Tomlin and it was going unchallenged.

              No, that is ridiculous.
We all know he only makes the BAD calls.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

yeah, cause knowing all the play calls from gruden being there the year before and callahan nt changing anything didn't help them at all.

what about his only year as DC in minny and coaching the worst rated coaching defense? would't that be more of an outliner on what to expect when he was in charge of the whole defense

Clearly you are talking.about JUST the SB. No I am talking ENTIRE SEASON.

Before Tomlin arrived Tampa had a "good" not "great" pass defense.

Before Tomlin arrived Rhonde Barber was nobody but Tiki Barbers brother. Average, never made a probowl.

The only secondary player of note was John Lynch and he was more a hitter than a cover guy.

TOMLIN BUILT THEM INTO A HISTORICALLY GREAT UNIT.

He did more with less than ANY position coach that I can think of.

Whiz, but he took the Arizona job before we hired anyone.

We know Whiz was also good with a HoF QB (but not as good as us in the SB).

We also know Whiz was bad without a HoF QB (we'll find out about Tomlin soon...although I think we both agree that our QB isn't currently playing at a HoF level in the present).

Yes. But I think it was widely reported that the three finalists for the job were Tomlin, Whiz, and Grimm.

I think it's unbelievably clear who the best option of those three has been.

What are you talking about? His defense was top 10. Unlike the one he inherited from Cowher.

NJ, you make baseless assertions that form your opinions. If you don't recall, try looking it up.

I want to emphasize that point.

                              Before Tomlin:
"COWHERS PLAYERS" WERE A WORSE DEFENSE THAN TOMLINS VIKNGS DEFENSE.

                              Let THAT sink in.

the year beofre tomlin got to Minnesota and became their play caller, their passing defense was ranked 22nd in the league.
it ranked last in the year mikey was there.

clearly rising among the coaching ranks. lol
