last few years were down, but 15 years of greatness with tons of things to cheer about. We've been spoiled for sure watching 7 play all these years. Doesn't mean I'm not pi$$ed about the start to this season - but I don't/won't forget all those wins.

    Next stop is Canton.

I don't know if this is that same highlight pack I posted after the CLE game last year when I thought he wasn't going to come back.

He's easily the best QB I've ever seen play for the Steelers. And he almost certainly will be the best QB I ever see for our guys moving forward.

An amazing talent and the heart of a lion. Never willing to give up on a play. Fearless.

            Here's another good one.

John Madden (SB XLIII vs. Cardinals). Around 12 minutes in the clip above.
"That's just Ben Roethlisberger being Super Man. You know that he is so big and strong, that you can blitz him, you can get to him, but you don't get him to the ground. And when he scrambles, he's not looking to run. He's looking to run, reset himself, continue to look upfield and find a receiver".

In three rambling John Madden sentences, I think that is what made Ben great.

yeah.. that dude has made a deal with the devil or something.

I will say Brady has taken a lot less punishment over the years but I have seen him stand in and take some serious shots in his day.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Ben Roethlisberger is dealing with "hip issues" ahead of the team's Week 5 game against the Broncos.

Roethlisberger picked up the hip injury in Week 4 against Green Bay, two weeks after hurting his pec against Vegas. Such is the life of a fading 39--year-old quarterback who can't avoid even the most ordinary pass rush. Roethlisberger will play this week against Denver if he's able to practice in the coming days. He should remain on waiver wires in one-QB formats.

It sure seems like it. I mean - who on earth ever thought that any QB would ever have 7 rings? SEVEN?!! And there's still a good chance he'll add more.

Good genes. Really, really good genes. Less punishment. And maybe there's something to his anti-inflammatory diet. And his ability to instantly find the fetal position when he feels punishment is coming his way.

I'm greatful for all the good things Ben did the previous 15 years; but this is painful to watch. And it's sad to hear him make new excuses for his eroding skill set. And management should be ashamed of themselves for watching this and not sitting him down with some dignity and a pat on the back.

You don’t play this long without taking some serious hits.

I know we are all frustrated right now... I am sure not nearly as frustrated as the men on the field. My son will be 19 in a couple of months, and all he has ever known is Ben an ultra competitive team that had a chance every single week.. no matter who or where they played. Were there bad games.. yes... did we lose some we shouldn't? that's subjective but bottom line there is 1 team in pro sports who can pride themselves as being in the hunt as often as we have. (Pats) As we watched the Playoff debacle end last season, I told my son, its been easy to be a Steeler fan for your whole life, get ready for some down years.... Sure we will win games, but with Ben I always feel like we have a shot, until we don't.. Lets not allow our spoiled nature as fans make us shortsighted. For all the bonehead INTs, there 3 or 4 times the wow moments. if this is his last lap around the field.... so be it........ if we lose every game that he starts the rest of the year, I will be hollering and cussing at the TV like the rest of us.... but I will also remember all the great times Ben has made us proud to be a Steeler...... just my .02

My son turns 19 in a couple of weeks. Same perspective. In 2011 we left a restaurant where we had just watched the Steelers lose SB XLV. He had tears in his eyes. I told him that 8 years old and in his lifetime his team had won two Super Bowls and been to one other in a 32 team league (yes, he did understand the numerical analysis, even at that age). I reminded him that friends of ours are Browns fans and they have never even been to a SB, nevermind winning one, during the dad's entire lifetime.

I don't use it as an excuse for failure, and it does suck to be going through this, but we haven't seen a stretch like this since the '80s. Looking at the roster, I don't think that we will have a sustained period of failure like we did during that era either.
